Do we really need anything about the Final Fantasy Bahamut here, besides the fact that the names are similar? Harryg (talk) 23:14, 1 April 2013 (EDT)

Well if one inspired the other... speaking of which "Final Fantasy's Bahamut is most likely named after the Bahamut of Arabian mythology, an omnipotent being who rides on a whale's back. By extension, the Arabian Bahamut is also Bahamutt's namesake." There's a missing step in there. D&D had a Bahamut as well, likely the actual inspiration for the FF one (given how many early computer/video game RPGS were just ripping off D&D and LOTR), but itself likely derived from the Arabian one. 18:16, 23 July 2014 (EDT) link to the D&D version on wiki 18:17, 23 July 2014 (EDT)
