A purple pikmin encountered in Pikmin 2.

Pikmin is the name of a video game for the Gamecube, and the name of a species of small plant-like creatures that exist in the Pikmin games. They have also appeared in the Marioverse. They cameo in Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour, appearing in flower beds.

The pikmin are encountered by Captain Olimar in the first game in the series, Pikmin. After crashing on the surface of a mysterious planet, Olimar meets the pikmin, who help him defeat enemies, and recover the pieces to his ship so he can leave the planet. In the sequel, Pikmin 2, also for the Gamecube, Olimar returns the the planet with his sidekick Louie to gather treasure to pay off their company's debt. The pikmin again assist Olimar and Louie on this adventure.
