Buster Beetles move hurriedly on a platform until they encounter a White Block, which they pick up. If [[Mario]] (or [[Luigi]]) is far enough from a Buster Beetle, the enemy remains idle with the White Block above its head; however, if he approaches the enemy, it tosses the White Block at him and resumes moving along the ground. If the White Block hits the player character, he receives damage. The player can defeat Buster Beetles with any attack, as, unlike most other members of the Buzzy Beetle family, Buster Beetles are vulnerable to [[fireball]]s and do not hide in their [[Buzzy Shell|shells]] when [[stomp]]ed on. Upon defeat, they yield 100 points.

A total of 28 Buster Beetles appear in ''Super Mario Bros. 3'', with two in [[World 5-1 (Super Mario Bros. 3)|World 5-1]] (where, in the absence of White Blocks, they simply appear as quick-moving enemies, not showing their throwing ability yet), seven in the second pathway of [[World 5-2 (Super Mario Bros. 3)|World 5-2]], another seven in [[World 6-5 (Super Mario Bros. 3)|World 6-5]], six in [[World 6-8 (Super Mario Bros. 3)|World 6-8]], and another six in [[World 6-10 (Super Mario Bros. 3)|World 6-10]].
