Sky-Blue Spinies are variants of Spinies that are found only deep underground. They highly resemble Spinies, except with a cyan-blue coloring instead of red. Sky-Blue Spinies become Sky-Blue Pipes when they roll into a ball, and may be thrown by Dark Lakitus. They are also stronger than normal Spinies.

It is possible that Dark Spinies are very closely tied to Sky-Blue Spinies, as due to being spawned by Dark Lakitus, Sky-Blue Spinies are essentially the "dark" Spinies in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

Trivia

  • The blue color of the Sky-Blue Spinies makes them look a bit like Buzzy Beetles with spikes. A relation to the Buzzy Beetles is stated in the German version of the game, where they are known as "Käfer-Stachis" ("Buzzy Beetle Spinies").
