Orang-utan Gang is the fifteenth level of the classic Super Nintendo game, Donkey Kong Country, as well as the fourteenth level in its Game Boy Advance remake. It is also the fifth level of the Vine Valley area in the original Donkey Kong Country, along with the fourth area in the Game Boy Advance version.
Orang-utan Gang, also spelled Orang Utan Gang or Orang-Utan Gang in the Game Boy Advance remake, is the fifteenth level of Donkey Kong Country and the fifth level of Vine Valley. In the Game Boy Advance remake, Orang-utan Gang was shifted to the fourth level of Vine Valley, making it the fourteenth level overall. Orang-utan Gang is the last jungle level, and it involves Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong having to walk along the treetops. It is the first level with Manky Kongs, who stand on the treetops and throw barrels at the Kongs. Shortly before the Continue Barrel is an animal crate containing Expresso. There are five Bonus Levels in Orang-utan Gang, more than in any level of the Donkey Kong Country series.

This area is on a different island to the forested Vine Valley area. In fact, it takes place in the treetops of a jungle. Throughout this level, the monkeys will have to run tree-to-tree on lush, green vines in this dark jungle. Their journey over the trees won't be too easy, though, as the Kongs will encounter their rivals: Manky Kongs. These dark orange-colored monkeys will hurl dozens of barrels at the heroes without breaking a sweat, and they can be quite a hazard. Along with these dangerous foes are the members of the Kremling Krew, Klaptraps, Kritters, and Zingers. Though the level is crawling with vicious enemies, the Kongs can get backup in the form of an Animal Buddy, known as Expresso the Ostrich. This helpful buddy can flutter about in the area and help the heroes avoid obstacles, or even get them into Bonus Levels.

The Kongs begin the level on a line of treetops. The sets of trees in the level are connected by vines that Kritters bounce along. Behind the start, they can find a Zinger circling a Steel Barrel. They can pick up a steel keg on a tree, circled by a Zinger. If they pick it up and throw it to the treetop on the left, the Kongs can jump on the rolling steel keg to ride through most of the beginning portion of the level. After another vine, there is a curved trail of bananas nearby that lead to a solid area of land with a DK Barrel and two Klaptraps on it. This area is followed by an abyss with more treetops connected by vines with Kritters hopping along them and a Zinger circling the K Letter in the middle. More treetops are ahead, and all of them have vines. The Kongs can then find a large piece of land that consists of many ledges that hold a few Klaptraps. A small platform between pits holds the letter O. They can also find a crate containing Expresso on the top of the area, which is followed by treetops with the level's Continue Barrel.

Level Layout
A second DK Barrel is found on another tree following an abyss. After passing some more treetops with Manky Kongs and a tree with another Steel Barrel, there is a small pit followed by two more trees that are connected to another pair of trees with a vine. After passing another Manky Kong, the Kongs can reach an area of land that consists of a few large ledges. After that, there is a that leads to a Klaptrap and the letter N. They can find an additional Klaptrap on a higher part of the large platform, which is immediately followed by a pair of trees that hold a DK Barrel. After that, there are more sets of trees, vines, enemies, and Manky Kongs.

From the start of the level, the heroes must walk along the vines and treetops over the bright green jungle and defeat a few Kritters. Soon, they will find themselves on a large platform with two Klaptraps. They should beat the enemies and run across the treetops to the right. On the way, they will encounter several foes, including a Zinger, guarding the letter K. Eventually, the Kongs will walk down a few vines to find land again. They should journey farther eastward here and jump up the many ledge of the area to find a crate. Expresso is in the crate, and they can ride on him throughout the rest of the level. After that, the group must head to the right and get back on the treetops, where the Star Barrel is found.

The Kongs then reach another large area of land that features a large alcove with a barrel. The Kongs can also find a tall piece of land behind it that they can reach with Expresso. This area contains a Tire that can help the Kongs break two ground patches that release items. After passing through the rest of the area, they can find two pairs of trees that are connected by twisted vines. Once a Manky Kong is passed, there is a large area of land with a sign on it. The exit is located after the Kongs climb over a raised piece of land with a Kritter on it, and entering it unlocks Clam City.
Halfway through the level, the monkeys and their animal friend must travel east and encounter a Manky Kong. The villainous monkey should be defeated, and then the heroes must continue along the treetops, beating a few more Manky Kongs. Farther on, Donkey, Diddy and Expresso will find themselves on solid ground again, where they can find the letter N, as well as a few foes to defeat. Carrying on, the group will get back on the treetops and have to head a long distance across some twisted vines. Manky Kongs and Klaptraps will try to hinder their progress as they make it through the area, so the heroes must be careful. When they get back to land again, the Kongs and Expresso will need to beat a few Kritters hidden in a small alcove and pass a barrel to get back on the treetops. There, they must trudge up a vine and dodge a lone Manky Kong. Soon, they will make it to solid ground, where they must jump up a ledge to find an exit sign. Farther on is a cave leading to the next level.

Enemies
*To find the first Bonus Level, the Kongs must travel about halfway through the level and find Expresso. When they get on the friendly ostrich, they should head west and travel backwards. When the group makes it to the area in the beginning of the level where two Klaptraps were once found, they will have to jump off the edge of the cliff to the left. In the air, Expresso should flutter under the treetops as far as he can go. Soon, the heroes will find themselves on a hidden platform with a small cave. They must walk into the entrance and ever the Bonus Level, where they will need to hit the several moving letters, which will orbit the area. They must be hit in the correct order to spell out an Animal Buddy's name, particularly "Winky". If they touch all the letters in the correct order, they will be awarded with an Animal Token of the animal name they spelled out, and then exit the bonus.
The following enemies appear in the following quantities:
*To get in the second Bonus Level, the heroes must make sure they have Expresso with them, and then travel to the area with the letter N. Expresso, with the Kongs on him, should jump off the cliff and flutter over an abyss to the right until he lands on a safe platform. There, they must fly over another abyss and land in an area with a barrel. The monkeys must dismount off the ostrich and brake open a nearby wall to reveal an opening. If they walk in it, they will be in a Bonus Level, where they will have to bounce off of a tire and land on certain parts of the ground to find special items, including a DK Barrel, an Extra Life Balloon, and a Banana Bunch. They can exit the stage when they are done through a small opening.

*Shortly after exiting the second Bonus Level, the monkeys will find a lone barrel near the treetops. They should pick it up and jump into the small abyss to the right to land in a hidden area. There, they will need to fall through the next small gap, still holding the barrel, and then blast open the wall to the left. When it breaks, they must walk into the opening and get in the Bonus Level. There, they must bounce off of a tire and land on two certain areas of the ground to win two Extra Lives. Once done, they can exit through a nearby opening.
<gallery>
*When the monkeys get out of the third Bonus Level, they will end up next to a barrel. Just as before, they must jump through the closest abyss and land in a hidden area. At this point, they must jump over a small gap, where the third Bonus Level was found before, and bust the wall to the right. An entryway will appear, and they should walk in to enter the Bonus Level. In this special level, the will need to bounce off of a lone tire and land on a certain area on the ground to find a prize, just like in the other Bonus Level. Once they are finished with this, they can exit the stage just as they did before.
Klaptrap DKC.png|Klaptrap (blue) (8)
*When the Kongs see the level's final Manky Kong, they should jump to the right of him and wait a moment. Once the foe throws a barrel at them, they will need to hop over it and watch as the barrel crashes into a nearby wall, located near a sign. It will create an opening in the wall, and the monkeys must walk in it to enter the Bonus Level. There, they will have to break a crate with Expresso in it. When the bird is found, they should get on him and ride over a wide abyss, collecting many bananas. At the end of the stage, they will find an Extra Life Balloon to collect, and also find the way out of the stage.

Bonus Levels
Orang-utan Gang has five Bonus Levels, listed by their type in the Game Boy Advance version:

*Spell it Out!: Reaching the first one requires Expresso. From the first DK Barrel, Expresso must jump off the left edge and flap all the way down to the bottom left of the level; from there, he and the Kongs can land on a hidden platform with an opening that leads to the first Bonus Level. Here, the Kongs must jump at orbiting letters to spell out the names of the four Animal Friends, in order of: Winky, Rambi, Enguarde, and Expresso. For each Animal Friend's name that the Kongs spell correctly, they are rewarded an animal token of that Animal Friend. In the Game Boy Advance version, the Kongs only spell out "Winky", because if they get three animal tokens, they do not continue to an Animal Bonus until after the Bonus Level is completed.
*Collect the Prizes!: Reaching the second Bonus Level also requires Expresso. He and the Kongs must go to where the letter N is, jump off of the cliff, and glide over an abyss until reaching a platform. From there, Expresso has to glide over another abyss and land on a platform with a barrel, which can break open a wall on the right, opening access to the Bonus Level. There, the Kongs must bounce on a floating round tire to land on three ground patches, which hide a DK Barrel, a Life Balloon, and a Banana Bunch, respectively. Donkey Kong and Diddy can exit through a small opening to the right.
*Collect the Prizes!: After the letter N, the Kongs must cross another set of treetops and pass two bouncing Kritters, then two Manky Kongs, and another two bouncing Kritters. The Kongs must pick up a nearby barrel, drop with it in a gap between the ground and treetop, move past a tire stuck in the ground, and go down another gap and hit the barrel against the left wall in the second gap to reveal the Bonus Level entrance. They have to bounce on a tire and land on two distinguished patches on the ground to win either two Life Balloons or two Banana Bunches, one per ground patch. Once done, the Kongs can exit to the right. (In the original version, there is a glitch where if the Kongs bounce on the nearby tire, the opened cave closes back up.)
*Collect the Prizes!: The fourth Bonus Level is accessed similarly to the third one, but instead of dropping into the gap with the third Bonus Level, the Kongs must jump over the gap and run the barrel into a wall to the right. This creates an opening into the Bonus Level, which looks almost the same as the second and third ones, except that there is only one patch on the ground, and it contains the letter G. They can exit the area to the right.
*Find the Exit!: To access the Bonus Level, the Kongs must jump over the last Manky Kong, near the third and fourth Bonus Levels. They must wait for Manky Kong to throw a barrel, which rolls along the ground before eventually hitting a nearby wall to the left of an arrow sign pointing to the nearby exit. It creates an opening in the wall, which the Kongs must walk into to enter the stage's fifth and final Bonus Level. There, they must break an Expresso Crate and ride him over a wide abyss. There are four groups of bananas pointing to the right. A platform with a Life Balloon is at the other end, along with the exit.

Orang-utan Gang, also spelled Orang Utan Gang[1] or Orang-Utan Gang in the Game Boy Advance remake, is the fifteenth level of Donkey Kong Country and the fifth level of Vine Valley.

The Kongs begin the level on a line of treetops. The sets of trees in the level are connected by vines that Kritters bounce along. Behind the start, they can find a Zinger circling a Steel Barrel. They can pick up a steel keg on a tree, circled by a Zinger. A small platform between pits holds the letter O. They can also find a crate containing Expresso on the top of the area, which is followed by treetops with the level's Continue Barrel.

A second DK Barrel is found on another tree following an abyss. Bonus Levels[edit]

Orang-utan Gang has five Bonus Levels, listed by their type in the Game Boy Advance version:

 • Spell it Out!: Reaching the first one requires Expresso. From the first DK Barrel, Expresso must jump off the left edge and flap all the way down to the bottom left of the level; from there, he and the Kongs can land on a hidden platform with an opening that leads to the first Bonus Level.
 • Collect the Prizes!: The fourth Bonus Level is accessed similarly to the third one, but instead of dropping into the gap with the third Bonus Level, the Kongs must jump over the gap and run the barrel into a wall to the right. This creates an opening into the Bonus Level, which looks almost the same as the second and third ones, except that there is only one patch on the ground, and it contains the letter G. They can exit the area to the right.
 • Find the Exit!: To access the Bonus Level, the Kongs must jump over the last Manky Kong, near the third and fourth Bonus Levels.
