Mametchi appears in the crossover Mario game Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 as a playable character in light of Namco's recent merge with Bandai. In this game, Mametchi is a speed type character like Ms. Pac-Man and Toad. Three of Mametchi's special items he can obtain during gameplay is a Mame Block, a Bagubagutchi, or a Chipi Syrup.

In the typical Tamagotchi virtual pets, Mametchi speaks his own language – Tamagotchi. He uses words such as 'bee', 'bop' and 'bip'. The sounds that he emits make reference to the beeping sounds that the Tamagotchi devices make whenever the player is pressing on the buttons, which are referenced in Mario Kart Arcade GP 2. Not all Tamagotchi characters speak the same language though, as a common child character known as Kuribotchi sounds like 'ba bu ba bu'.
Mametchi's only appearance in the Mario series is in Mario Kart Arcade GP 2, where he is a playable guest character presumably to coincide with Bandai's then-recent merger with Namco. He is categorized as an Easy-Control character, sharing stats with Ms. Pac-Man and Toad. His special items are Bagubagutchi, a Mame Block, and a Chipi Syrup, and his voice clips imitate the beeping sound effect heard in Tamagotchi Virtual Pets.

Not all Tamagotchi media depicts Mametchi speaking the Tamagotchi speech either. An example is the Tamagotchi! anime TV series, which depicts Mametchi and the other Tamagotchi characters speaking the human language.
