In the beginning, the player will need to hold {{button|ds|A}} until the meter on the right is full. Waiting too long will mess up the player. Afterwords, the player will be sliding down a steep slope where a yellow line is seen going the length of the whole track. They must go over the line to fill up the meter. When the meter is full, the player can hold the {{button|ds|A}} button to move much faster. Their meter will drain as they go, unless they are still on the line. However, if the player is at top speed and hits into a wall, they will crash, slow down, and need to fill the meter again. Once the player crosses the finish line, that will be the official race time for the player. Whoever finishes the course in the fastest time, wins the event.

Luge is a Luge Event in the Nintendo DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games. The objective of the event is to complete the course in the fastest time, with the event taking place at the Whistler Sliding Centre. The starting course record for the event is 00:53.584.

Luge's uses the same music as Skeleton in the Wii version of the game.

Gameplay[edit]

In this event, the player starts by pressing and holding A Button to charge up energy and fill a gauge, before releasing A Button to start the event when the gauge is as full as possible. The fuller the gauge is determines the player's starting speed and how full their boosting energy meter is to start off. The player is ranked from "Bad" to "Good", "Great" and "Perfect" depending on how full the gauge is when they release, with "Bad" rating also being given for overfilling the gauge. Once the event has started, the player must steer their character using left and right on +Control Pad, and should aim to stay on the ideal line. Doing so will allow the character to reach a higher speed and fill the boost meter. When the meter is full, the player can press and hold A Button to boost, depleting the meter but allowing the character to achieve much higher speeds. The boost ends either when the meter is empty, if the character hits a wall or crashes, the latter two also causing a loss of speed. The character that completes the course in the fastest time wins the event.
