A Tweester, as it appears in Paper Mario.

Tweesters are tornadoes that appear in desert levels of Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario 64, Paper Mario and Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix.

In Super Mario Bros. 3, their only appearance was in the quick sand level, where they would trap Mario in an air pocket and move him backwards. The only way to get past one was to run at it head on, which would cause Mario to fly into the air.

In Super Mario 64, when Mario touched one of them, he would fly through the air for a few seconds. They appeared in Shifting Sand Land.

In Paper Mario was the first game where they had nasty faces, and would blow Mario one screen north and one screen east in Dry Dry Desert. It is highly recommended not to touch them, as Mario could easily get lost in the vast sands. However, one of them could blow Mario near a rare item on top of a high rock, and this item could not be reached by any other means.

Like many other minor enemies, Tweesters have found home as capsules in the Mario Party franchise. In Mario Party 6, there was a Tweester Orb that, when the other person touched it, would steal coins from them. A Tweester also served as an obstacle in the Dry Dry Desert stage of Mario Kart: Double Dash!!.

In Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix a Tweester attacks the S.S. Brass, making it spin and spin. However, this Tweester appeared in an island, and not the desert.
