The Angry Sun first appeared in Super Mario Bros. 3 in the Desert World. It stayed in the sky of the level until Mario had jumped over the tornado in the middle. It would then move in a U shape across the screen to try and hit Mario. It could be destroyed with a Koopa shell.

In Mario Kart DS, the Angry Sun shows up again. It resides in the Desert Hills course, where it shoots fireballs at drivers.
