Gang-Plank Galleon (theme)

"Gang-Plank Galleon" (titled "The Pirate Ship" in Japanese soundtracks) is a recurring musical theme in the Donkey Kong franchise. The theme was composed by David Wise and relates to King K. Rool, as well as the eponymous Gangplank Galleon. The theme has a sea-chanty feel, representing the pirate-esque personality K. Rool has. The theme first appears in Donkey Kong Country and plays on the final level of the same name.

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

A version of "Gang-Plank Galleon" known as "Snakey Chantey", composed by Grant Kirkhope, appears in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. While the intro remains similar, it is noticeably different from the original theme. This theme plays in two levels in Krem Quay (on the ship hold) and Rattle Battle.

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!

A short tune of "Gank-Plank Galleon" plays when Krematoa surfaces in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!.

Donkey Kong Country (Game Boy Advance)

A cover of "Gang-Plank Galleon" appears in the Game Boy Advance version of Donkey Kong Country, being an almost faithful version to the SNES track, though with different instruments due to the hardware of the console.

Donkey Kong Country 2 (Game Boy Advance)

A cover of "Snakey Chantey" appears in the Game Boy Advance version of Donkey Kong Country 2. Similarly, it is nearly faithful, with the instruments being slightly different. Unlike the original game, "Klomp's Romp" replaces it in Glimmer's Galleon.

Donkey Kong Land

An 8-bit rendition of "Gang-Plank Galleon", known as "Gangplank Galleon Ahoy!" appears in Donkey Kong Land, and was composed by David Wise, playing on the ship levels. This theme returns in the Game Boy Color version of Donkey Kong Country, where it retains the original role as its SNES counterpart.

Donkey Kong Land 2

An 8-bit rendition of "Snakey Chantey" appears in Donkey Kong Land 2, composed by Grant Kirkhope, and is a somewhat faithful version of the SNES theme. It appears only on Pirate Panic.

Super Smash Bros. series

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

A rendition of "Gang-Plank Galleon", known as "King K.Rool / Ship Deck 2", arranged by Shōgo Sakai, plays on the Rumble Falls stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. The intro starts like a sea chanty as usual, but it incorporates a hard-rock tone midway through. It also plays during the roll call if the player beats Classic or All-Star mode as either Donkey or Diddy Kong. It also plays in The Lake level in The Subspace Emissary. The theme returns for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U for Kongo Jungle 64. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, this theme returns. The player can choose this theme to appear in any Donkey Kong or Super Smash Bros. stages.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

A new cover of "Gang-Plank Galleon", composed by ACE, appears in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. It heavily focuses on the brass and also has some vocals. Before the song's second section, a few monkey noises are also present. This cover incorporates a rap song describing King K. Rool, one of the game's new fighters.

A new cover of "Snakey Chantey" also appears in this game. It has an orchestra march-like feel and combines "Gang-Plank Galleon" in theme. "Gang-Plank Galleon" and "Snakey Chantey" can be played on both Super Smash Bros. and Donkey Kong stages.
