First appearance Super Mario Bros. (1993)
Portrayed by Don Lake

Sergeant Simon is a minor character in the 1993 Super Mario Bros. film, serving as the head of the Dinohattan police department. He is played by Canadian actor Don Lake. He is referred to by name only once by Koopa calling him "Simon", though the end credits confirm his full title as a sergeant.

He is first introduced when Mario and Luigi are initially arrested and brought in to the precinct. There, he questions the brother on their last name and is confused by their last names being "Mario". He is present for the brothers' interrogation with President Koopa and in the Devo Chamber sequence where he is punched to the floor by Mario during his escape. He reappears towards the end of the film warning Koopa that the Goombas are dancing.

In earlier drafts of the film, it was Sergeant Simon's character who was supposed to die during the Devo Chamber scene.[1] The final draft of the film has said position fulfilled by an unnamed "DEVO Technician". Ultimately, said scene was cut out altogether from the movie.
