''VS. Wrecking Crew'' is less puzzle-oriented than its console counterpart. There is no vertical scrolling, as the whole playfield is visible at once. The game lacks a level editor, and features a competitive simultaneous two-player mode that utilized the capabilities of the VS. Dualsystem units: both players have their own screens, and both screens have each player's perspective. If an enemy walks through a door, they will go the opposite side of the playfield and kill that player upon contact. Enemies that can kill the player on a given screen are orange, while those on the other side of the playfield are blue.
 
In single player, Luigi acts similar to Foreman Spike, and is present in all levels.

VS. Wrecking Crew is a two-player arcade version of Wrecking Crew (1985, NES) which was released in 1984, predating the 1985 console game Wrecking Crew.

Gameplay

VS. Wrecking Crew is less puzzle-oriented than its console counterpart. There is no vertical scrolling, as the whole playfield is visible at once. The game lacks a level editor, and features a competitive simultaneous two-player mode that utilized the capabilities of the VS.
