: This list is not intended to include every single playable character in Mario franchise unlike the category, it's just intended to include the most common playable characters in Mario franchise, in how many games each one of them is playable, what is the first game in which each one of them is playable and what is the latest game in which each one of them is playable. Each character has to be playable in at least 20 games so far and in at least 10 new games from the last 5 years in order to appear in this list.
