Chain Chomps

How are they chain chomps? They seem to be just Amps shaped as Bowser heads that can be attached to chains.

How are Amps Chain Chomps? They don't look like Chain Chomps at all. It's not confirmed they are Chain Chomps, so I'm going to remove this information.

Amps are Chomps, since they're called Electro-Chomps some other times. Bowser Amps are Amps, so that's why they're called Chomps. But the template "Chain Chomp" is misleading: I changed the template title to "Chomp" to avoid any more confusion. Ray Trace^(T|C) 17:36, 27 April 2013 (EDT)

The nomenclature, "Electro-Chomps" is what Prima gave them, and Prima is not the best source for enemy names. Their Japanese name makes no reference to Chain Chomps (Wan-wan), and we have no official source stating that they are Chomps. Plus, Amps do not resemble Chain Chomps (even though the Fire Chomp bears a resemblance to Amps), which further leads me to conclude that Amps are not Chain Chomps, and we shouldn't assume they're Chain Chomps unless officially stated. None of the evidence that Amps are Chain Chomps feel satisfactory to me.

Prima is the next official source if there is none, and they're Chomps, not Chain Chomps, just how Fire Chomps are Chomps, not Chain Chomps (and the Fire Chomp's Japanese name gives no hint to it either). Since there is a some-what official source for the Amps being Chomps compared to your assumption that they aren't Chomps just because they don't look like Chomps. I know I agree with you there that they bear no resemblance to Chomps, but still... Ray Trace^(T|C) 17:46, 27 April 2013 (EDT)

The problem is that Prima makes mistakes on naming normal enemies. And, I didn't just say they didn't resemble Chain Chomps, but their Japanese name makes no reference whatsoever on this enemy being a Chain Chomp. And also, I just found out that at least Fire Chomps somewhat resemble Chain Chomps, and they get an official name. My main problem with basing Prima as an official source is that they often slip on enemy names that we know for sure what their names are, and when they're the only source for enemies that lack a name, we're in that gray area where the name is neither conjectural nor official. There's also a similar discussion related to this, and the last comment sounds convincing.

They're not CHAIN CHOMPS. I did not say they were CHAIN CHOMPS. I said they could be CHOMPS. Just like how a Fire Chomp is a Chomp Ray Trace^(T|C) 17:58, 27 April 2013 (EDT)
