Both the character's after being hit with their own PK Thunder.
PK Thunder
Ness and Lucas using PK Thunder.

PK Thunder is an attack of Ness from Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Melee. It is his Up B move in both of the games, and is a guidance attack, as well as a recovery attack. Once executed, Ness will shoot out a blast of electricity, which he will then guide across the field. Best used when far away, it can be used to hit foes from a distance, without the risk of getting attacked. Although it lasts long, it does have an extent to how far it can go. As for the recovery side, it can be used to hit Ness, at launch him really high up into the air, allowing him to get back to the field (if he jumps high enough). Luckily, the attack will not harm Ness, but he doesn't jump as high in Melee.

Lucas and Ness are both capable of using this attack in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. However, PK Thunder differs slightly between the two. Ness's move stops when it hits a player, while Lucas's move goes through his opponents. Lucas's PK Thunder is easier to control, and can turn much easier than Ness's PK Thunder, but Ness's PK Thunder has more speed. When they hit themselves with their own PK Thunder, Lucas will ram into the player with many small hits, whereas Ness hits his opponent with one big hit, sending the foe flying.
