The Mushroom Kingdom Orphanage was possible first mentioned in "The Great Gladiator Gig / Bonkers from Yonkers", which has Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool and Toad attending a benefit spaghetti dinner for an orphanage in the Linguine Empire. After some trouble with Emperor Augustus Septembres Octoberus Koopa, who had made everything up about a spaghetti benefit dinner, Mario, Luigi, Toad and Princess Toadstool made their own benefit dinner for the orphanage.
In the episode "Mario and the Beanstalk / Bats in the Basement" it is revealed that the Mushroom Kingdom Orphanage is on the verge of closing for unknown reasons and that one hundred gold coins are needed to keep the orphanage open. After a lot of difficulty involving a a con man cow salesmen, a giant beanstalk and King Koopa, the one hundred gold coins needed for the orphanage is eventually obtained when it rains down from King Koopa's castle in the sky as the castle collapses to the ground.
