Spud

A leafy Spud.

Spuds are round creatures with leaf-like things on their heads. They only appear in Wario's Woods, where they are the most common enemies in the game along with Squeaks and Fuzzes; they are very easy to defeat as any chain of bombs can destroy them.

Trivia

• Spuds look somewhat similar to the vegetables in Super Mario Bros. 2.
• Spud's name comes from a nickname for the potato.
• In an early scene in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time,one of the hammer bros. actually refers to Baby Mario as a "spud". However, considering the fact that his use of the word "spud" wasn't proper and that he called Baby Luigi a "tater tot" shortly afterward, it is almost certain that he nicknamed Baby Mario "spud" after the alternate potato name rather than the Wario's Woods enemy.
