Is the Wither really a Megasmilax?

There's no source listed that the Mario Mash-Up Wither skin is a reference to Megasmilax. The resource pack was mainly inspired by Super Mario 64 and more recent Mario games, and there is the absence of spines on the vine of the Wither to make it a direct reference to Megasmilax. It could have been an accidental homage? I just don't see Mojang/4J Studios pulling from Super Mario RPG of all games, especially since the pack was released long before the remake was even known about. --JoeCool (talk) 13:01, November 14, 2023 (EST)

This was brought up over here, and the general consensus seemed to be that it had the least issues as an appearance of Megasmilax/Smilaxes compared to the alternatives. LinkTheLefty (talk) 17:05, November 14, 2023 (EST)
