Template:Minigame-infobox Polar Extreme is a Free-for-All minigame in Mario Party 9. It is a pun on the children's book, The Polar Express. The name may also be based on the terminology "polar extreme", which represents radical viewpoints.

The Polar Extreme minigame.

The camera focuses on the ship at the end. Then, it switches to the players.

Gameplay

The competitors must reach the ship first or survive longest by jumping on breakable ice chunks which shift under their weight. If the player falls in the water, he or she will be temporally frozen before returning to the ice chunk, but can leap out of the water by pressing Two Button rapidly. The player can fall into the water only three times in a row. The player loses if he or she falls behind the scrolling screen. Some Penguins are found on some chunks as obstacles, stunning any player that touches them. Occasionally, jumping on a chunk of ice results in it shattering into smaller pieces.
