[[Mario]] meets these creatures on his venture in [[Smithy]]'s [[Factory (Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars)|Factory]]. Hippopos are usually accompanied in battle by [[Boo]]s or [[Ninja (Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars)|Ninja]]s. They can also fly, making them masters of aerial attacks. | *Among the unused sprites of ''Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars'', there is an enemy named [[List of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars beta elements|Crippo]], which is a Hippopo lookalike. It has twice as much health as Hippopo. The only noticeable difference is Crippo's brown and green color and the moves [[Thornet]] which could lead the monster to attack itself and [[Doom Reverb]]. It is also possible that Crippo's name is a portmanteau of "cripple," referring to them attacking themselves, and "hippo." The unused enemy has no Psychopath thought.
