But after the credits, Captain Toad abandons Toadette to chase after a [[Green Star (Super Mario 3D World)|Green Star]], where he encounters [[Mario]], [[Peach]], [[Luigi]], and [[Toad]], who are pursuing [[Bowser]] who has captured the [[Sprixie Princesses]], as told in [[Super Mario 3D World]]. The Captain decides to assist the way he did in the said game leading to his role in its storyline.
After the credits, Captain Toad chases after a Green Star, leaving Toadette in the minecraft. A scene identical to ''Super Mario 3D World'''s opening plays, only the scene changes after [[Mario]], [[Luigi]], [[Toad]], and [[Princess Peach]] enter the pipe. The runaway Green Star falls into the pipe, and Captain Toad follows suit.
