Bashmaster mainly uses his spiky hammer to attack. At first, he comes to a Kong, and swings his hammer on the ice. However, he cannot pull his hammer back, which gives a chance for the Kongs to step on him. When stepped on, Bashmaster will stagger and fall into the fruit juice pool, and comes back to the ice floe. He then jumps high and falls down, which causes the Kongs to move slightly backwards. He then summons ice blocks and push them to the Kongs; some of them contain items such as Bananas, Banana Coins, Watermelon Bombs, and Hearts. In this case, throwing a Watermelon Bomb causes him to take damage, which will make him to fall into the juice pool again.
Bashmaster mainly attacks with his enormous spiked hammer. His most basic attack is a powerful hammer swing when the Kongs draw near. The force of the blow leaves the hammer stuck in the ice, giving the Kongs a chance to use it as a platform from which to jump on Bashmaster's head. The boss can also leap high into the air and attempt to drop on the Kongs; not only must the apes dodge Bashmaster, but they can also be sent sliding into the juice pool around the arena if they are on the ground when the bear comes down. Another attack summons ice blocks that Bashmaster pushes towards the Kongs. The blocks can be shattered with Ground Pounds or Hand Slaps, and some of them contain items such as Bananas, Banana Coins, Watermelon Bombs, and Hearts. Throwing a Watermelon Bomb at Bashmaster damages him, but be careful not to hit another ice block by mistake.

After taking three hits from either stomping or Watermelon Bombs, Bashmaster's fur color will change into a light purple. He will hit the ice floe to summon 2-3 ice blocks from above. When the ice blocks are set, Bashmaster will dash towards the Kongs, break the ice blocks, and spin at the end, which will make him dizzy. When he gets dizzy, he is again vulnerable to a stomp attack which causes him to fall into the juice pool. His hammer-swinging attack now creates an icy wave which causes the Kongs to take damage. Another pattern involves him summoning ice blocks and hitting them with his mallet to create a spiky ice block which tracks the Kongs.
After taking three hits, Bashmaster's fur color will change into a light purple. His jump attack now creates an icy wave which can damage the Kongs if they do not jump over it. Bashmaster can still push ice blocks at the Kongs, but now tends to push them in stacks, forcing the Kongs to use smaller stacks to jump over the larger ones - particularly the last stack, which will always be a four-block pillar.

After taking three more hits, his fur color will change into a purple completely. However, other than the change of coloration of his fur, and attack speed, his pattern will remain same. If the player hits him with another three stomps or a bomb, the boss is defeated.
One of Bashmaster's new attacks in this phase drops a number of ice blocks to form several pillars on the ice floe. Bashmaster will subsequently dash towards the Kongs, breaking through the ice blocks - the Kongs must jump atop a pillar to get the height necessary to evade their enemy. During his charge, Bashmaster may sit down and spin, which will make him dizzy and vulnerable to a stomp on the head. He can also summon a single ice block and hit it with his mallet, creating a spiky projectile that must be jumped over. Bashmaster will often do this attack multiple times, varying the speed of his projectiles to throw the Kongs off. Of particular note is the boss' tendency to fake a swing and then strike a block to create a slow-moving projectile, which is usually followed by an abnormally fast one.

After taking three more hits, Bashmaster's fur will become an even darker purple. His attacks remain largely the same, but with a slight speed boost and in new patterns (such as combining his ice block push with a few spiked projectile shots). Additionally, Bashmaster's hammer attacks now create ice waves, similar to his jumps in the second phase. If the player hits him with another three stomps or bombs, the boss is finally defeated.
