They are large, indestructible boulders that bound around unceasingly. They can be used as convenient platforms to get across long stretches of spikes or to reach high areas out of reach, mostly in [[World 3-1 (Super Mario Land)|World 3-1]]. [[Hiyoihoi]] also uses Ganchan as projectile weapons in [[World 3-3 (Super Mario Land)|World 3-3]]. Although Ganchan appear as generic boulders, they are living beings.
