In volume 5 of ''[[Super Mario-kun]]'', after [[Mario]], [[Luigi]] and [[Yoshi]] are temporary defeated by the Monty Moles. The Monty Moles mention a king of theirs that they were gonna take Mario and his friends to, but they end up taking them to the pig and cow instead. This implies that a Monty Mole king exists in the manga though it is never seen.{{ref needed}} There was a Monty Mole king boss seen in the beta for ''[[Paper Mario: Sticker Star]]'' that went unused.
