Tables
I want to let you know that the process of editing all those tables on course articles was conceived as a personal project and while anyone is free to help, no one should feel obliged to. Hence, please don't change them back to how they were before. Having a cup's icon as a link to that cup's page is not intuitive when the name right beside it can be linked instead. There is also an ongoing proposal to use a specific terminology for in-game tiers, in which I've expressed that the "level" indicators currently used for tiers can be conflated with the game's level-up system. In addition, all of the proposal's current voters lean towards the "Top / Middle / Bottom" set of indicators, so that can be assumed to be the eventual outcome of this proposal. Until it is formally settled, however, the tier terminology on those tables should be left unchanged.
Again, I do understand your reasoning behind your reverting, seeing as how it's a lot of work to make the tables consistent between all the other pages and that you have already put a great deal of effort in keeping Mario Kart Tour information up to date. I insist that this is not necessarily our project and you shouldn't contribute if you don't wish to. I alone am able to take care of it all. 11:23, October 10, 2020 (EDT)
:Something interesting happened as that proposal was going: Nintendo actually addressed the issue with a clear terminology for the top two shelves! The official terms, "favorite" and "favored", are attributed to courses and not items, but we can modify certain phrases to put focus on the courses, as in "this course is favored by/a favorite of this kart/driver/glider". This means that instead of "Top" and "Middle" tier, in those course tables, we should put "Favorite of" and "Favored by". As it has been discussed and agreed on in the proposal, we should only recourse to the "Top/Middle/Bottom" outcome when it's difficult to apply Nintendo's own terminology. 07:39, October 24, 2020 (EDT)
Personal images
Hello, just reminding you that you have too many personal images (maximum is 5). Please choose the ones to keep and mark all the other ones with delete. Thank you in advance. 14:16, November 2, 2020 (EST)
:I don't see why one is allotted only 5 personal images, especially when the majority of mine are being used for my seasonal signatures. SonicSpeed48 14:48, November 2, 2020 (EST)
::See MarioWiki:Personal files. By the way, you should create a signature page because signing with raw code is not allowed. (2nd section, rule 3 of MarioWiki: Signatures) 17:51, November 2, 2020 (EST)
:::It's a limit placed to avoid users uploading too many images that have no place on the wiki's main articles. Choose five to keep and mark the rest to be deleted, otherwise they will be deleted at random and the decision will be made for you.
:::And yeah, an actual signature page should be created so it can be easily transcluded onto talk pages and any adjustments made to the page will effect every use of the signature. 18:29, November 2, 2020 (EST)
::::There, happy? 19:07, November 2, 2020 (EST)
:::::For the signature bit, yes. We're not trying to upset you, but there are regulations that need to be followed. 19:14, November 2, 2020 (EST)
The "Sonic" part leads to an unexisting userpage for "SonicSpeed", and please mark the other PIs for deletion. 19:16, November 2, 2020 (EST)
Standard Time
You're still adding the wrong times to the tour infoboxes. It's Standard Time now, not Daylight Saving Time (10pm - 9pm, not 11pm to 10pm). 20:55, November 27, 2020 (EST)
Bonus challenges
Appreciate you wanting to help create those bonus challenge articles, but I would have liked you to ask me beforehand if you could collaborate on the project as I already had another batch of pages in queue. For now, I can let you continue if you so wish--just please leave the pages Vs. Mega and Big Reverse Race for me to create. Thank you. 00:30, December 20, 2020 (EST)
:Fair enough. 01:20, December 20, 2020 (EST)
::Just to be clear though, we might have to hold off on the "Take them out quick" one until there are more bonus challenges of that type in future tours. 16:11, December 20, 2020 (EST)
:::Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. Having a "list" with only one entry would be awkward. 17:20, December 20, 2020 (EST)
RE:Steer Clear of Obstacles
Sure, you can go ahead :) I am quite procrastinating on the Big Reverse Race page because I'm iffy on some of its current table arrangements... do you want to help give some feedback perhaps? If so, I will post a sample in my sandbox for you to see. 04:19, January 8, 2021 (EST)
:Sure thing, man. Just let me know when you do. 04:22, January 8, 2021 (EST)
Big Reverse Race
I'm very sorry for not getting back to you earlier. I had already started cooking up a list in the way you proposed, and sampled two versions of it in my sandbox here for you to see. I discovered that the drivers, karts and gliders used by opponents, as well as their positions at the beginning of the challenge, are always predetermined, so I made sections for each initial placement in the race wherein I put the corresponding drivers and their equipment. Both of the current arrangements, however, look a bit cluttered due to the large amount of content that we have to cover, and I was wondering if you have any idea on how to make the table tidier. 11:49, January 12, 2021 (EST)
:I should mention that you are free to edit the Big Reverse Race section in my sandbox if you wish to test something out. 11:53, January 12, 2021 (EST)
::Actually, in all honesty, I think Version 2 of those tables could be the best way to do the page. 14:40, January 12, 2021 (EST)
Course pages
Hey, regarding those edits on MKT course pages, I would like to remind you some of the things I have told Lemon Meringue on their talk page. First off, I've noticed you are changing "bonus challenge" back to just "challenge", even though the latter forms a different in-game concept from the former. Secondly, you are still adamant about removing cup links in tables, even though the wiki's manual of style states that duplicate links are allowed within tables and lists as they increase accessibility without the risk of clutter that exists in prose text. Indeed, in our example, if one wishes to look for a particular cup they've seen in a table, it is less convenient having to search the surrounding text for a link to it than it is to simply have the link at the ready. Reining in those links likewise goes against the already-established practice of linking to particular karts, gliders and drivers repeatedly within those same tables. 02:02, January 17, 2021 (EST)
B Dasher Mk. 2
The Sprinter kart from Mario Kart Wii was recently moved to its new name "B Dasher Mk. 2". Please be sure to remove the "Sprinter" part from "B Dasher Mk. 2" when putting tour stats on course pages so that it links to the actual page instead of the redirect. 16:54, March 12, 2021 (EST)
Course links
You keep changing the links of courses back to the ones without the console abbreviations without providing a reason as to why. The courses should link to their new titles so they don't link to a redirect. You did the same thing with the course links on Mario and Peach's profile pages, which I reverted because, due to the length of their profile pages, I spent a long amount of time individually changing each course to its new link. 23:49, July 16, 2021 (EDT)
Trick animation images
Hi. Just a heads up about the trick animation images for Rosalina (Swimwear) and Mario (Swimwear).
*:File:MKT Rosalina Swimwear Trick.png image is actually the "trick 3" animation
*:File:MKT Rosalina Swimwear Trick3.png is "trick 1"
*:File:MKT Mario Swimwear Trick.png is "trick 3"
*:File:MKT Mario Swimwear Trick2.png is "trick 1"
*:File:MKT Mario Swimwear Trick3.png is "trick 2".
Might as well rename these filenames for the images to be consistent. - 07:17, September 8, 2021 (EDT)
On course icons/thumbnails
Mister Wu has brought to my attention on the forums that Mario Kart Tour uses a folder called "icons" to store those square images that you tap on to select a course. This is perhaps something you were already aware of, seeing as how you have personally ripped and uploaded such images from the game's files in the past.<br>My idea behind referring to them as "thumbnails" stemmed from them being essentially miniature screenshots/representations of a certain course, which would fit the definition of a thumbnail specifically. However, seeing as how they also kind of fit the bill of an icon (like a computer symbol, they show distinctive features, i.e. a top-shelf driver) and are even officially denoted as such, I wanted to let you know that I've reconsidered changing their names to "thumbnails" and will restore any instances I've got to change so far. I know my edits have been a bit brusque and uninformed, which is why I'm letting you know. 08:51, February 20, 2022 (EST)
:Alright, thank you for the heads up. 15:45, February 20, 2022 (EST)
Koopa Troopa Beach in the Peach vs. Bowser Tour
Just a heads up, but you forgot to add information of N64 Koopa Troopa Beach R/T in the Peach vs. Bowser Tour. The tour is ending in a few hours so I don't have time to fill it in. 22:46, May 31, 2022 (EDT)
:Oh geez, I almost forgot! Thanks for the heads up! 23:00, May 31, 2022 (EDT)
"Mario Buggy"
You added "Mario Buggy" as an alternate name for the Piranha Pipes but did not source it. Where did you get the name? 15:30, July 13, 2022 (EDT)
:What are you talking about? I never added that. 17:55, July 13, 2022 (EDT)
::OHHHHHHHHHH, my bad. I was using the Goo-Goo Buggy's page as a reference for the redone Piranha Pipes page. My mistake. 18:18, July 13, 2022 (EDT)
RE:Rearranging of characters in favored and favorite courses
Which way do they need to be rearranged? Are there pages where their in-game order hasn’t been taken into account? Or are you suggesting a different arrangement? 20:33, August 13, 2022 (EDT)
:Just by in-game order, and I've only seen Sky-High Sundae and SNES Vanilla Lake 1's tour appearances be by in-game order, and you did undo an edit to GCN Daisy Cruiser's to be by in-game order too. All others don't have the rearrangement done to them yet. 23:04, August 13, 2022 (EDT)
:I myself strongly encourage abiding by the in-game order, if only because it appears to be the most readily available guideline to use for this purpose (another would be the Team Rally listings, but those only include characters and I can't even remember if they're consistent between themselves); however, I wouldn't fuss over a couple mistakes slipping by. The official order is already quite confounding to someone who isn't aware of the criteria it is based on, so I doubt readers would even notice a couple mix-ups; but it would certainly throw them off a bit to not be able to quickly spot a certain driver or kart based on their position in a previous table. I'd say keep the wiki updated at your own pace and stress not too much over potential mistakes that have been made. (Besides, I myself don't really see that many?) 22:46, August 16, 2022 (EDT)
Suggestion
Hello again! Now that you reordered the driver/kart/glider in the tour appearance pages to the way they are shown in the menu, I'll ask you one more thing about availability between them. I would suggest to put a gray foreground for drivers, karts, or gliders that are still tour-exclusive (regular obtainable items remains the same). Also, the Bowser Tour is ending soon, and the tour appearance of 3DS Piranha Plant Slide has not yet filled in, so please finish it before the next day, thanks. 19:00 September 6, 2022 (EDT)
Finally.
Somebody else who is like me. Do you have a Roblox account? SONIC123CDMANIA+&K(B&ATSA) 11:07, December 20, 2022 (CST)
:Unfortunately no, I don't play Roblox. 12:49, December 20, 2022 (EST)
Tour appearance pages
I assume that creating and maintaining these pages constitute a huge workload for you. It's honestly inspiring that you've been thoroughly recording the game's development in that area of interest for so long, which is why I'd like to give you a tip: when you make a major contribution to one of these pages (or perhaps just anytime you feel like it), make sure to archive the page's source code on Wayback Machine. I already did it for a majority of city course articles and a few others, such as 3DS Rainbow Road <small>(archive.org)</small>. Doing so ensures your hard work is safely backed up and easily recoverable with the sweep of a copy-paste in the event something undesireable happens to the wiki. Hey, you can never be too cautious. 11:52, August 5, 2023 (EDT)
EDIT: In the same breath, don't mind the block notice at the top of that archived page. That blocked IP pertains to Internet Archive's servers. 11:58, August 5, 2023 (EDT)
