'''Snake''' is a soldier and spy, who is the star of most of the ''Metal Gear'' series games created by Hideo Kojima. In the games, he is constantly given the job of deprogramming the dangerous weapon, called [[Metal Gear]]. His main choice of weapon is heavy explosives from the [[Real World]]. He was the first third-party character to be confirmed for ''[[Super Smash Bros. Brawl]]'' for the [[Wii]].

Snake's appearance in the trailer was a surprise to fans primarily because third-party characters (those not belonging to [[Nintendo]] or any of its second party affiliates) had never been present in the series thus far and because most of the Metal Gear games are rated "M". He appears in ''Brawl'' as he did in ''Metal Gear Solid 2''.

Snake's moves were not showcased in the trailer, but ''Brawl''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s game developer [[Masahiro Sakurai]] has stated on his site that Snake will fight hand-to-hand and use a variety of explosives, rather than rely on firearms. His home stage is the [[Shadow Moses Island]], and his enemy, Gray Fox, will be an [[Assist Trophy]] character. Snake will be voiced by ''Akio Ohtsuka'' in the Japanese version, and by ''David Hayter'' in the English version.

Solid Snake finds his way aboard the [[Halberd]] and starts looking around the area. When he hears a sound, Snake quickly hides in his box as [[Lucario]] and [[Meta Knight]] pass by him. However, Lucario sudenly stops, and using the Aura, sees through the box and sees Snake. He takes the box off him, and Snake is shocked. He battles the two. After the battle, it is unknown what happens, but it appears he runs away to another room where he meets [[Princess Peach]] and [[Princess Zelda]]. Ater fidning out they're on the same team, Snake tells them to follow him. However, the two princesses are not so sure if they should follow him-after some thinking, Zelda turns into [[Sheik]] and they follow him to the top of the Halberd where he appears to be nowhere. It is unknown what happens to Snake then.

== Trophy Information from ''Super Smash Bros. Brawl'' ==
=== Snake ===
''A former member of FOXHOUND with an IQ of 180 and mastery of six languages. He's an infiltration specialist whose ability to carry out missions under any conditions has made him a legend. He's saved the world three times from the threat of bipedal, nuclear-armed mechs called Metal Gear. Currently he's working with the anti-Metal Gear group known as Philanthropy.''

=== Snake (Final Smash) ===
''Snake's Final Smash. He grabs a ladder hanging from a helicopter and appears in the foreground, then fires a grenade launcher at foes. The grenades explode on impact and damage anyone in the vicinity. Each clip holds six grenades--empty one, and Snake reloads. He can fire a total of twelve shots, but with such limited time, it's better to shoot 'em all.''

==Trivia==
*In ''Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes'', a remake of ''Metal Gear Solid 1'' for the [[Nintendo GameCube]], figurines of [[Mario]] and [[Yoshi]] can be found in Otacon's office. Shooting Mario will not only generate the original 1-UP sound, but restore the player's life. Shooting Yoshi only lets out his "Yoshi" signature.
