They are functionally identical to [[Bros. Point]]s from other ''[[Mario & Luigi (series)|Mario & Luigi]]'' games and are needed for [[Mario]], [[Luigi]], and [[Bowser]] to perform [[Bros. Attack#Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story|Special]] [[Special Attack (Bowser)|Attacks]]. As Mario, Luigi, and Bowser [[Level up|gain levels]] and obtain better pieces of [[List of clothing in Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story|clothing]], their maximum amounts of SP increases. Certain pieces of clothing will also reduce the SP cost of Special Attacks when worn.
