:In Japan, Lady and Pauline were considered to be separate characters for a very long time (until 2014?). Outside of Japan, she has always been one character. SMK Pauline and Mario Vol11.png and look at her name and design. ==Re:BASIC names==
I'm aware; tori-san (Bird) still matches the naming scheme of kame-san (Turtle) and kani-san (Crab), the names those enemies had in the NES port of Mario Bros. (and really most games until Super Smash Bros. made the arcade names cool again). Moreover, Birds and Fires were grouped together with Nitpickers and Fireballs (and still are sometimes) except mainly for the Game Boy Donkey Kong game. We have the benefit of hindsight here to use the somewhat less confusing names. LinkTheLefty (talk) 11:48, April 6, 2022 (EDT)
Re:Scatola Teschio?
Yes, in the SMB Enciclpedia you can find it.
*Torpedo Ted desc. (SMW) [Page 55]: "cassa con un teschio" [box with a skull] (it's not a name, it's the description of the base)
*Torpedo Base (SMW) [Page 61]: "Scatola Teschio" [Skull Box]
*Torpedo Ted desc. (NSMBU) [Page 210]: "Cannoni Ted" [Ted Cannon]
*Torpedo Base (NSMBU) [Page 216]: "Cannone Ted" [Ted Cannon]
*Red Torpedo Base (NSMBU) [Page 215]: "Cannone Siluro Ted" [Targetting Ted Cannon]

Black on black-background arcade sprites like this is always achieved through transparency onto the background to work while staying within palette limitations. Many NES sprites do this too, like literally every boss in SMB3. MB arcade doesn't have a non-transparent black value in a palette on the sprite layer at all, so it's definitely someone trying to "fix" it. (Note how in the TCRF image, black is used as the transparency of the entire tile, meaning all of that black is transparency.) :It looks like MB arcade might ignore the rule sometimes (like for Shellcreepers and the brothers, though Luigi's shirt isn't "true" black), so I've changed it back for now. Things like mad Sidestepper pupils and Freezie mouths are transparency, though, and all home conversions use the transparency trick consistently. I've left a question on the TSR sheet to ensure it's legitimate. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 10:21, July 24, 2022 (EDT)
:OK, the black on the sheet is legit, though this also means the pupils on mad Sidestepper are transparent. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:46, July 28, 2022 (EDT)

Hey Platform, was wondering if you happened to have a forum account/discord/twitter? I just wanted to send you a personal message about something.

:I have no social media accounts.--Platform (talk) 11:29, May 18, 2023 (EDT)
::Well I should probably ask you right off the bat, would you be interested in becoming a patroller? Responsibilities would include reviewing Special:RecentChanges for vandalism and blocking users where necessary, enforcing policies and contributing to staff discussions (a forum account would be required).
:: 06:32, May 19, 2023 (EDT)
:::That's alright, thanks for letting me know.

Thank you so much! Hope you find the history section easier to edit in general due to the split. 03:12, May 20, 2023 (EDT)
Re:That's not the queen
Oh... OH! [laughs] You thought that was the Queen? To be fair, I initially thought that too, but no: the lady next to the king in that picture is the queen: she wears a crown, her clothing are different enough from Peach's (see the veil around the head that Peach doesn't wear and the very distinct crown/tiara) so you can't use a "it's a simple miscoloration error" excuse. The strongest hint was also how Peach and the King have the same exact Toad-esque designs in the manga (Peach has also the same colors she sports in "How to win", in the cover) and so does the queen (again, see the veil) except for the slimmer look.
Oh, my god. We're both dum-dumbs. 05:29, June 21, 2023 (EDT)
RE:Toad the character in manga
I presume you are talking about the KC Mario manga. To be honest, Toad is very underused in the manga overall (compared to Super Mario-kun): even in his starring game, Wario's Woods he is replaced by Mario by making him wear a helmet that belong to an ancient Toad hero of the past and then another Toad, which isn't THE Toad, appears as a minor supporter. Many Toad designs are used, but I noticed that THE Toad's is the only one (or one of the very few) to keep the normal design (straight face, white vest and dotted mushroom cap without any distinctive characteristics), so I'm going to list you the one in which this type of Toad appears with a relevant role:
*The first one is in a 4-koma in Super Mario Land 2 as the announcer of a Chō-han game between Mario, Luigi, Daisy and Peach. Some Toads with this design appear during some town scene in the second arc of the manga, but nothing relevant.
*In Super Mario Land 3 some Toads with this design appear in the Baseball story. I dare to suppose that THE Toad is the Catcher for the Mario team and later a Batter that manages to score two points of the team thanks to his short stature preventing Bowser from using cheap shots.
*In Doctor Mario, there is one Toad with this design that is infected by the Viruses. Another one, with smaller dots, appears in the mountain village where the curing mushroom is.
I would also need to check SMB3, but for now I can't, so these are the appareances I could find of him. Mind you, in these instances, the relevant Toads are never called by name in these cases. 05:31, September 29, 2023 (EDT)
Droppy Kong Junior
Say, since you made the "Drop" article, can you point in the direction that you found the Coleco Adam manual? Or, if you can't (like you sourced it physically), can you add to the talk page discussion? LinkTheLefty (talk) 16:15, March 11, 2024 (EDT)
:Thanks, that's helpful for the article. I'd check 'em out myself, but...<s>the links are apparently already expired.</s>EDIT: nevermind, I looked in the direction you pointed in the talk page and found those scans at AdamArchive.Org.
