The Japanese title of the Defeat four ducks! level refers to them as DDs, the NoA email response refers to "Duck", and Nintendo Power Vol.106 pg. 70 calls them "ducks", etc. - they're "ducks" by all accounts in Wario Land II - so shouldn't that be considered the current name?

The D.D.s return in ''[[Wario Land II]]''. Their attack pattern remains exactly the same as it was in the previous game, though they and their boomerangs are physically smaller by a small amount, and the latter spin faster. Like the previous game, they are classified as heavy enemies in this game, meaning that Wario will slow down significantly when carrying one. In the [[Game Boy Color]] version, they are usually given an orange, mint green, and dark blue palette.
