:''Kinopio'' was indeed introduced in ''Super Mario Bros.'', but that was without any doubt a species. The first ''Kinopio'' character that according to Nintendo was also a recurring one (since he reappeared in ''Wario’s Woods'') is the one of ''Super Mario Bros. 2'', who was also mentioned in the Miiverse interview about ''Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker'' for this reason (they wanted to stress how Captain Toad is not the Toad of ''Super Mario Bros. 2''). Since that Kinopio of ''Super Mario Bros. 2'' was a Toad bearing the species’ name and standard appearance, this page ultimately ended up covering all the occurrences of Toad when treated as individual rather than species.—[[User:Mister Wu|Mister Wu]] ([[User talk:Mister Wu|talk]]) 19:24, April 13, 2020 (EDT)

== Toad in NSMBUDX ==
So, at one point, I modified Penguin Mario's "used on" section to include Toad, and the edit was reverted. Before I proceed to make more edits like this and waste even more people's time, I'd just like to ask something. Do people generally consider the "Toad" slot in New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe to not represent Toad? I had assumed that, even if the slot ultimately comes down to a combination of Yellow and Blue Toad, it was still "Toad," as in, the one that also appears in the spin-offs. Not only is his name directly stated to be Toad in-game, but this isn't the first game where his spots aren't red; such was the case in Super Mario Maker 2, too! Furthermore, it's possible for Toad to have different colored variants in the same game; Mario Kart Tour has Builder Toad, who has blue spots (something not shown to be an effect of the Builder Hammer, as it was likely done in homage to Super Mario Maker 2) and regular Toad, who has red spots. Admittedly, I do feel that I'm reopening a can of worms here, but this is a bit of a different case to the whole Super Mario 3D World discussion, so do think it's worth discussing.
