A Nice Shot is a common event in the Mario Golf series. In order to get a Nice Shot, the player must strike the golf ball perfectly. By getting a Nice Shot, the golf ball is more likely to go on a perfect path, going where guided to. The words "Nice Shot" appear in large colorful letters, alerting the player that he or she has done well. The player does not earn any extra points, powers, or turns for performing this move; but when this is achieved as a power shot, the number of power shots will not decrease.

Special effects happen when a Nice Shot is done. In Mario Golf, Mario's ball becomes a fireball. Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour has the balls of Mario and Shadow Mario cloaked in red and blue flames respectively, and Yoshi's and Birdo's balls leaving a rainbow trail. In Mario Golf: World Tour, Miis' balls have gold streaks while Mario characters' balls have rainbow streaks, and when this is achieved from the tee, an inset at the bottom right of the Nintendo 3DS top screen shows the character doing a gesture of joy.
