The game was conceived after the release of Mario Strikers Charged Football and would be made for the Wii. Super Mario Spikers would be a sports game whose concept would be a mixture of volleyball with wrestling. No further information about the game has been revealed other than a short animation test, where the character Waluigi can be seen jumping over Mario and leaping to hit a ball. It is worth mentioning that Mario in such video wears an outfit heavily based to those used by the characters in the Mario Football series.
