:Okay, I can confirm that there are file names alluding to his state, though it seems to be less of them naming him "Pump Mario" and more of it referring to the action. I realized that quickbms output these names into an info file instead of naming the files themselves, but they do still correspond to each file I'd imagine. There's "f_mario_pump", "f_mario_pump_drink", and "f_mario_pump_kus", but also "f_luigi_pump" and "f_luigi_pump_kus". Sno (talk) 10:19, July 30, 2023 (EDT)

:I just checked out the STRM_SE_PUMP_MARIO_KUSUGURI.bcstm (I opened it in BrawlBox) and it's the sound of Mario saying "ohoho!" with water sound effects. This matches the sound effect that plays when Luigi tickles Mario while in his pumped state.Sno (talk) 10:31, July 30, 2023 (EDT)
::Ah, I've tried BMS, but did not think to check out the Kuriimu tool. Yes, I'm in agreement that the sprites sound like they're for an action and not a proper name for the form, and I'll presume for now that's probably true for all of the games it appears in. Well, if you have time to help look into more, you can see a list of things here that could benefit from internal sourcing. I'm also curious about Lil Sparky and the big Koopa Troopa (if you'd be willing to check out the text too, there's a line in the GBA original that uses the name Ankoopa - we still haven't checked if the line is unchanged in the 3DS remake or if it actually kept "Ankoopa" /「ノコッタス」). Thanks. LinkTheLefty (talk) 10:37, July 30, 2023 (EDT)
:::Unfortunately, it appears that the Ankoopa mention was from the beanish that gave hints, whose role was changed to giving out rewards for records in the remake. Additionally, I couldn't find any sprite named Ankoopa. With the way quickbms output the sprites & their names separately, I can't seem to find which name may refer to it so far. ::::If my suspicions are correct, it might be under something like Nokottasu, its Japanese romanization. LinkTheLefty (talk) 12:05, July 30, 2023 (EDT)
:::::There isn't any "Nokottasu", though there is a name for "f_nokonoko_down". At the same time, I can't tell if this is referring to the koopa because the name also appears in Minion's Quest files (there's different headers to distinguish standard field, epilogue, & Minion's Quest sprites) and I don't think this type of koopa ever appeared in Minion's Quest. I specifically looked for sprites with _dwn / _down at the end and found some names here I'm not familiar with, but that's probably because they're Japanese names & possibly shortened (such as "f_rabel_act / f_rabel_dwn / f_rabel_wlk", "f_koruk_act / f_koruk_wlk / f_koruk_dwn"). There's also simply just "f_koopa_dwn", which is kind of odd, because there's seemingly already fallen Koopa Cruiser Koopas labelled "f_teshita_down_gr" and "f_teshita_down_rd". Sno (talk) 12:31, July 30, 2023 (EDT)

:::::A lot of the names are also quite generic, like weatherman for the Joke's End meteorologist beanish, sailor_bl and sailor_gr for the S.S. Chuckola skeleton sailors, photoman for the photographer beanish, itemwoman for the item-selling shopkeeper, infoman for the records beanish, and aharobo for the Woohoo Hooniversity robot (note that there's also "ahastudent" and "ahateach", though I don't recall seeing both teachers and students). Some I cannot identify yet include "f_billy", "f_bnoko_wlk" (maybe this is it? though I'd expect a down file too), "f_azara01" (goes up to 03), "f_kurako" & "f_kurata" (wild guess that these are the jellyfish species' names, as they might be based on kurage ("jellyfish" in Japanese) and kurako also appears to have Minion's Quest sprites), "f_sharge" & "f_sharge_girl" (also jellyfish species name candidates but I don't know what sharge would mean), "f_taishi_op", "f_tuki_act / f_tuki_wlk", "f_truck_wlk", and "f_yodoruf" Sno (talk) 12:41, July 30, 2023 (EDT)

::::::The turtle might be a bit inconclusive in that case, but interesting that the Koopa Cruiser Koopas seem to have their own sprites. I would guess that's a remnant of the original version. I wonder if I can work with the sailor and jellyfish filenames. I know Mister Wu had a Japanese guide for the GBA version, so he may be able to corroborate some of those. What about the Pipe Master guy? I almost thought for a second that I found it under "28_Dokan_Master_i32.dspadpcm.bcstm", but those are just I guess the "master" copies of the BGM tracks, and it's the underground theme. I forgot if he has a unique sound effect in the remake, so maybe that can be one way to identify him? LinkTheLefty (talk) 19:20, August 4, 2023 (EDT)
:::::::The Koopa Cruiser Koopa sprites are pretty much just the normal green & red used Koopas sprites standing around / being on the ground from when they crash at Stardust Fields. The only names that have "master" in them in the list are "master_f" and "master_t", referring to Firebrand and Thunderhand I believe. I can't seem to find anything with "dokan" (or even just "dok", I also checked some synonyms but no luck) in the name either, which was my first guesses on what the pipe master guy's internal name could include (there is no "piper" either).Sno (talk) 22:48, August 4, 2023 (EDT)

::::::::I just realized that the name files do have numbers that correlate to their sprite sheets! I will use these to figure out the names I couldn't identify. Turns out bnoko is the big Koopa Troopa! Billy is Bloat, the Azara files all refer to the Gwarhar Lagoon residents (the Hermie III fanclub members specifically), Kurako is the jellyfish with the red & white bow, Kurata is the jellyfish with shorts. sharge & sharge_girl were Chuckleroot and his granddaughter, taishi_op is opening Lady Lima (the fake one), Tuki is Boddle's assistant, truck is the Mysterious Mine Carts owner (note that minecart in Japanese is Torokko), and yodoruf is Hermie III. ahastudent is the running Woohoo Hooniversity beanishes spriteset, while ahateach is the one that turns into a Laser Snifit. I noticed that Presenter is indeed internally called Presenter as well. Sno (talk) 18:13, August 9, 2023 (EDT)

::::::::Unfortunately the Flying Snifit is internally only known as "bm_hmucho_atk2" (Flifit Attack 2) Sno (talk) 20:37, August 9, 2023 (EDT)
:::::::::So "bnoko" probably indicates 'big Koopa', then. Would you know if, in the Japanese GBA version,「ノコッタス」is used in place of "Ankoopa"? I've never gone out of my way to check out the information booth, and I don't have a save file that's anywhere near close enough (apparently after collecting the Beanstar pieces from Hermie and Harhall, but before getting the one in Yoshi Theater). But that "Presenter" seems to confirm that the mole remains the same. "taishi" is a romanization of the Japanese word for ambassador, and the billy, yodoruf and sharge filenames come from the known Japanese names, but I think we can source the presenter, tuki, and sailor names, and possibly truck, azara, and kurako (which would have one more instance than kurata, and only one of them is a boy I guess, though if kurata is also used for the sisters then that might work instead). If you've seen this template around, you know how it works: the file parameter, whenever possible, should cite the full filepath that the name was pulled from. This makes it easier for others to cross-check, and generally, internal names that use English or loanwords are acceptable ways to clean up another language tags. So if you can get directories, we can start seeing changes! LinkTheLefty (talk) 14:40, August 13, 2023 (EDT)

::::::::::Yep! Unfortunately I don't have the means to easily get to the Japanese name that easily either, but I might try getting to it someday. Kurata is used specifically for the jellyfish NPC with shorts (the guy that's near the Beanbean Fields Luigi surfboard-making area I believe), while Kurako is used for both the red-and-white bowed and purple-and-white bowed jellyfish NPCs from the main story and minion's quest. So I would assume Kurata is for the males of their species, and Kurako is for the females of their species. The Jellyfish Sisters Gigi and Merri are called their Japanese names internally instead.

::::::::::I suppose it would be something like this? Sno (talk) 15:24, August 13, 2023 (EDT)
:::::::::::I would say more like this or that (the latter is generally how it's formatted when it's the source for the article title). LinkTheLefty (talk) 18:08, August 13, 2023 (EDT)
Hello, sorry for barging into an old conversation like this, but I was wondering if you could find the filename for the sparks from the sidescrolling sections. That section has a [citation needed] on it, and the filename might confirm what that enemy is supposed to be. Blinker (talk) 10:34, October 23, 2023 (EDT)
:I wouldn't mind taking a look. Sno (talk) 11:04, October 23, 2023 (EDT)

:I've made some findings! I have provided them in the internal name format so people can use them if they wish. In summary, I found that the sparks are internally called bsoul (from f_bsoul_ci) (I have no clue what the b may stand for), Pipe Master is internally called Pipeman (f_pipeman_ma), and the Guffawha Ruins monster is internally named Moai (f_bg_moai_ba).

:::Interesting! Not sure what to make of "bsoul" either, but those other names seem usable, especially "pipeman". Blinker (talk) 14:10, October 23, 2023 (EDT)
