:You're welcome. Don't worry too much, it's a pretty common rookie mistake here, so don't be too worried. Heh, I like your name, it reminds me of my old name, LeftyGreenMario. 23:12, 18 January 2016 (EST)

I'm having this problem again. I've been trying to reupload a good amount of images, but replacing the file isn't working correctly. I've tried refreshing the page, but it hasn't been doing anything. Can you please help me? --Green Mario (talk) 13:25, 21 January 2017 (EST)  (EDIT:) Also, when I revert the image, the reuploaded image suddenly works correctly. But when I try to change it back to the reupload, it goes back to not working correctly.

:I know I'm not the person you were talking to, but hitting Ctrl+F5 will reset the cache rather than just refresh the page. Try reverting to the sprite you just uploaded and try that. It usually works. 13:34, 21 January 2017 (EST)

Still doesn't work. I'll keep trying, though.. --Green Mario (talk) 15:25, 21 January 2017 (EST)
:I decided to give it a go and try it, and it works just fine for me. The sprite now shows, but you may have to press Ctrl+F5 to see the result on your end. 16:36, 21 January 2017 (EST)

The template uncategorized was a quick idea Porplemontage and I came up with to help us catch newly uploaded uncategorized files. The idea behind it is to not have it tag the file being uploaded (default it shows up in Special:Upload to better catch files not being categorized). I see you are now inserting the category. Just remove the template. -- 23:21, 25 October 2016 (EDT)

btw, "Images" is capitalized in the category names. 13:05, 6 August 2018 (EDT)
Hey, please recall Alex95's comment above. The "I" in "Images" must be capitalised in the category name. 18:21, 13 February 2019 (EST)

Replacing images is being wonky, though. I don't have a choice. --Green Mario (talk) 21:38, 19 January 2017 (EST)

:That's only true if you are replacing images, not satisfying an article needing an image or more. I prefer the red link method when replacing images with a PNG version. See here. As for getting an image for an article, search first with my list of places to start, then upload if the image doesn't seem to exist. -- 19:41, 31 January 2017 (EST)
YouTube as a Source for Images
Don't use YouTube. Quality varies, but doesn't beat using a real console or emulator, even at YouTube's highest settings (beyond 720p or 1080p doesn't make Wii U images better or any console for that matter), and makes maintenance harder to get good quality images uploaded. -- 16:02, 15 March 2017 (EDT)
But the images I replaced were already low quality in the first place, so it could only be improving them, right? Or is there something I simply don't understand? --Green Mario (talk) 18:36, 15 March 2017 (EDT)
:Don't use YouTube. Simple as that. Just submit screenshots like so. Once there is a practical way to clean capture screenshots from the Wii U (or an emulator reaches a level of comparable quality), it makes replacing much easier because by definition, JPEGs are lower quality. See MarioWiki:Image use policy. Technically, using YouTube isn't against MarioWiki policy, but if it were (and I wish it were), I find it on a similar level to creating stub articles, which is against policy. -- 19:09, 17 March 2017 (EDT)
Well, I still don't fully understand, but that's alright. I'll take your word for it. Also, sidenote, has there been any issues with me and creating stub articles? I'd just like to know. --Green Mario (talk) 20:32, 17 March 2017 (EDT)
:YouTube videos use encoders for the video file, likely MPEG/H.261/H.262/H.263/H.264/H.265 or anything similar. This format is the JPEG of video files, meaning lossy quality. Very old uploads used FLV.

:It is possible a few stubs slipped under the radar of sysops or a sysop saw it as a legitimate effort. -- 20:43, 17 March 2017 (EDT)
New version upload
You can't upload a newer version of a file if they have different file extensions (.jpg, .png, etc.) It would have to be uploaded separately in that case. 20:13, 14 February 2019 (EST)
Navigation template / categories
In the future when creating a new article, remember to add a navigation template and category. The respective sections in MarioWiki:Manual of Style explain more. 00:24, November 10, 2019 (EST)
