'''Rhythmic Gymnastics''' is an [[Event]] that appears in the [[Nintendo 3DS]] ''[[Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games (Nintendo 3DS)|Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games]]''. The objective of the event is to score as many points as possible by performing well-timed moves. The playable characters in this event are [[Mario]], [[Princess Daisy|Daisy]], [[Rosalina]], [[Sonic]], [[Amy]], [[Blaze]] and [[Mii]], with Rosalina being unlocked by beating her in [[Rhythmic Gymnastics Plus]] on the third day of Mario's story in the Road to Rio mode.

In the Road to Rio mode, Rhythmic Gymnastics appears as the event on day 3 of Mario's story.

==Gameplay==
In this event, the player must initially select a composition, before selecting a difficulty from normal or expert. A separate record is saved for each composition as the best score achieved on either difficulty, with the overall record for the event being the best of each composition's score. To start the event, the player must press {{button|3ds|A}}. The player will then be prompted onscreen to input a number of different button commands in time with the music. The number and type of button commands depends on the difficulty of the song and the one the player selected, with normal difficulties mainly consisting of {{button|3ds|A}} and {{button|3ds|B}} presses, {{button|3ds|stick}} spins and throw commands, and expert difficulties adding in {{button|3ds|X}} and {{button|3ds|Y}} presses and button holding commands alongside more of the original commands. For button press moves, the player will receive a rating based on their timing, ranging from "Perfect" to "Great", "Good" and "Bad" for particularly poor timing, incorrect button presses or missed presses altogether. A similar rating system is used for holding and spinning commands, but instead based on how much of the time indicated the player held or spun for. For hoop throw commands, the player must press either the indicated direction on {{button|3ds|pad}} or {{button|3ds|stick}} with the correct timing. The player is able to perform combos by performing several "Great" or "Perfect" moves consecutively, which will award them a higher score. At the end of the event, the player is told how many of each move they performed, as well as what their maximum combo was.
