'''Free Flying for 8 Red Coins''' is the fifth mission of [[Shifting Sand Land]] in ''[[Super Mario 64]]'' and its seventh and final mission in ''[[Super Mario 64 DS]]''. While the [[Power Star|Star]] number changed, the name and objective of the mission, collecting the course's eight [[Red Coin]]s, did not, nor did the locations of the Red Coins themselves.

==Layout==
There are eight Red Coins scattered over Shifting Sand Land. Four of them are on land, and the other four are in the air, requiring the use of the [[Wing Cap]]. As such, [[Mario]] (or someone wearing [[Mario Cap|Mario's cap]]) is required to complete this mission in ''Super Mario 64 DS''. Alternatively, the player can use [[Luigi]]'s [[Backward Somersault]], the [[cannon]]s, and the [[tornado]]es to get the Red Coins. Additionally, none of the Red Coins are located within the pyramid. These are the locations of the eight Red Coins:
*Behind the player's starting position at the end of a narrow path
*In one of the [[Block (Super Mario 64)|blocks]] at the stone structure
*In the center of the maze-like paths in the [[quicksand]]
*In the oasis
*The other four are located in the air.

Once the player collects all eight Red Coins, the Power Star appears at the [[Star Marker]] atop the stone structure with a [[Cap Block|red block]] and [[! Block|yellow block]].
