Barrel Drop Bounce is the twenty-third level in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! and the third level of K3. In the level, Dixie and Kiddy must traverse up a waterfall. Tumbling barrels are falling down the waterfall, and the Kongs can use them as platforms to ascend the level. There are instances in which Kiddy can use a team up throw so that he and Dixie can reach nearby ground or a nearby Auto-Fire Barrel. While on land, the Kongs must avoid Bristles and Krimps along the way. Later in the level, the Kongs can optionally release Parry from its animal crate. If they manage to get Parry around the Buzzes and to the No Animal Sign, the Kongs are rewarded a Green Balloon.

During this waterfall level, the Kongs do not find the Booster Barrels and Tracker Barrels needed to blast them to the top of the area. Instead, they have to jump from barrel to barrel as the objects pour down the waterfalls in order to make it to the top of this level. Parry can also be found here, and leading him to the No Animal Sign yields a green Extra Life Balloon.
At the beginning of the level, the Kongs find a gap in front of the first waterfall in which they should cross. They can also use the passage behind the falls to cross. Farther on, they encounter a gap to large to get over. With the aid of a lone barrel, the apes should make their way over it and hop into one of the level's few Barrel Cannons blast to the letter K, as well as a higher area. Using barrels to cross another waterfall, they move farther down the damp pathway to find a passage behind a waterfall. Taking this path, the monkeys make their way to the letter O. After they travel down a straight pathway, passing a few Bristles behind a pristine waterfall, they find the Star Barrel.

Using barrels to cross another waterfall, they move farther down the damp pathway to find a passage behind a waterfall. Taking this path, the monkeys make their way to the letter O. After they travel down a straight pathway, passing a few Bristles behind a pristine waterfall, they find the Star Barrel.

About halfway into the level, the Kongs use a lone barrel to climb up a ledge to high to reach with a normal jump. The two apes soon make their way to a dead end in front of a waterfall. Falling from the falls are several barrels, which should be used to climb the large waterfall. When nearing the highest possible point on the waterfall by using the falling barrels, the Kongs find a second Barrel Cannon. If they get into the cannon, they are shot upwards. At that point, the player should make the monkeys move to the left while airborne to land in the next area. There, the group travels along the rugged pathway, jumping over a few small gaps to reach higher slants of land. They soon make their way behind a water on the wet ground when meeting a wall of Buzzes. Once they scale the whole area behind the fall, they find the letter N in the air, along with another Barrel Cannon. This cannon aims upwards, but does not fire the apes automatically. Instead, as the other barrels roll from the waterfall to the left, they fire themselves to a barrel and climb to another area of land. After that, the monkeys meet Parry, who is parallel to them until passing the No Parry Sign, or unless Parry is defeated by an enemy. Heading on, the Kongs and Parry cross another abyss with the help of two falling barrels. Once they get on land, they walk down the grassy pathway to find a high-up ledge. With a barrel falling from the behind waterfall, the group can reach the top of the ledge. After getting on the ledge, they meet a dead-end, so they need to climb to another ledge with a falling barrel. If they can do this safely, they head under a Buzz and cross a huge waterfall with the use a four barrels. After using the four objects as stepping stones in the air, they hop on one more falling barrel to reach a higher area, as well as the No Parry Sign. If Parry is alive at this point, crossing the No Parry Sign earns the Kongs a green Extra Life Balloon. Passing along a straight pathway in front of a waterfall, the apes finally find the level's flagpole, ending the level.

*After the letter K, Dixie should be used to hover to the right in front of a large waterfall. Following a trail of bananas on a platform, she and Kiddy find a Steel Keg nearby. They should pick up this barrel and carry along the several slants of land behind an in front of the waterfall to soon encounter the Koin. Heading as far right as possible with the barrel, the apes reach a small wall between two levels of land. They lightly throw the barrel against that wall and run quickly back to the Koin. With the barrel near them, the monkeys need to jump to the left of the Koin. At that time, the enemy pay attention to the Kongs, not at the barrel rolling behind him. Eventually, it hits the distracted Kremling in the back, defeating him. This gives the Kongs the DK Coin.

After the letter K, Dixie must use her Helicopter Spin to hover across the large waterfall and land on a platform diverged from the main path. The Kongs must follow a trail of bananas to find a nearby Steel Barrel. The Kongs must pick it up and continue up several slants of land both behind and in front of the waterfall to reach the Koin. The Kongs must continue to the right until reaching a small wall between two levels of land. The Kongs must lightly throw the Steel Barrel up against the wall and quickly go back to the Koin with the barrel still in sight. When the Kongs go back to Koin, they must jump to the left of him for the Steel Barrel to hit him from behind. This causes Koin to be defeated and the DK Coin to be rewarded to the Kongs.

*Right after the letter K, the group uses a set of barrels to cross a waterfall. If they go backwards after crossing the gap, they head up to a Bonus Barrel, taking them into a Bonus Level. In this Bonus Level, they hop along some falling barrels on a large waterfall to grab fifteen green bananas. Once all green bananas have been collected, a Bonus Coin appears.
Barrel Drop Bounce has two Bonus Levels, listed by type:
*After the letter N, the Kongs see a large waterfall to the right. With Dixie in the lead, the monkeys should jump into the air and have Dixie use her Helicopter Spin to reach a barrel sliding down the waterfall. Near the barrel is a Bonus Barrel, which leads the Kongs into a Bonus Level. There, they need to quickly hop up some falling barrels on a long waterfall to reach the top of the area. On a platform found to the right of the stage's highest point, they find the Bonus Coin.
*Collect 15 Bananas!: The first Bonus Barrel is found northeast of the pair of barrels going down the waterfall, near the letter K. Dixie and Kiddy must use the barrels to climb to the higher point on the left, then turn around and use them to jump to the barrel on the right. They can then enter the Bonus Barrel. In the Bonus Barrel, the Kongs have 30 seconds to collect 15 green bananas while jumping from barrels going down a waterfall to the right. After doing so, the Bonus Coin appears on the platform where the Kongs started.
*Find the Coin!: After the letter N, there is a large waterfall to the right. With Dixie in the lead, she must jump into the air and use her Helicopter Spin to reach a barrel sliding down the waterfall. The Kongs must then jump into a Bonus Barrel above. In the Bonus Level, Dixie and Kiddy have 20 seconds to quickly jump from some falling barrels on a waterfall and reach the Bonus Coin on a platform at the top-right of the area.
