Are you kidding me?

Super Mario 64 is one of the glitchiest games around and pretty much anyone who still plays it today will tell you they play it for either 1) speedrunning, which exploits glitches, or 2) for the discovery of new glitches. This is one of the worst pages on this wiki because not only does it have a whole bunch of minor glitches that are worded poorly, but also it lacks one of the most famous glitches in any game ever! And that's hardly an exaggeration! It lacks the backwards long jump. If you don't know what that is, look it up. If you do, write it in the article because I can't. I am not a wiki editor but I can complain over the quality. So there, someone please fix this atrocious little stub of an article. Quate 15:42, 30 December 2009 (EST)

It doesn't lack the backwards long jump glitch. Read the article more closely next time you look at 'the worst article on the website'.

Random letter

It's not a glitch! It's Bowser's trapdoor as it looks from bottom. See clearer, its like two squares from another angle.SWFlashSWFlash.svg

M'kay, thanks.

Bob-ombs glitches

In this video, there are many bugs with Bob-ombs. [1] Artwork of Yoshi in Mario Party 8 (later reused for Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games) Yoshi986 Yoshi egg 19:08, 28 September 2010 (UTC)

The Black Room Of Death

It's also possible to get on the castle without 120 stars, you need to climb on it from the sides, though it's not that easy. You can watch the action from here or here. SWFlashSWFlash.svg

Is This a glitch?

Non-Completable Mission (Almost!) is not a glitch because that if nintendo want to fix this glitch they would put infinity number of thoose enemies

I agree. I think Nintendo did it on purpose to add some challange.Mario Jumping NSMB2.pngMarioManiac164Artwork of a Super Mushroom for New Super Mario Bros. 2

Remove all cartridge tilting glitches

Settledproposal.svg This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit any of the sections in the proposal. If you wish to discuss the article, do so in a new header below the proposal.

KEEP THEM 2-12

This includes Flip'd-up Mario 1, Flip'd-up Mario 2,Flip'd-up Mario 3,Flip'd-up Mario 4, Mario lying on the floor and Xylophone Music (optional) . They are unnecessary, and beside that, they aren't really glitches.

Remove

  1. Megadardery (talk) - Per proposal
  2. Sonic98 (talk) - Per Megadardery

Keep

  1. LeftyGreenMario (talk) First, harmful effects caused by fiddling with the game cartridge does indeed qualify as glitches (they are programming errors that result in unintentional effects including no clipping and sputtering noises). Second, why do you think they are unnecessary? It's nice to know what glitches happen to your game when the cartridge gets moved around, and it doesn't hurt to include glitches caused by that. I don't see a great reason to remove these glitches.
  2. Time Turner (talk) Per. These are still glitches, no matter how you phrase it.
  3. Ace Shadow (talk) Per LGM and TT.
  4. Tails777 (talk) Per Time Turner
  5. Yoshi876 (talk) Per LGM and TT.
  6. SuperYoshiBros (talk) Per LGM and TT, even if it's caused by something outside of the game.
  7. MarioRolandHelper (talk) Per LGM and TT.
  8. Sinanco (talk) Per LGM and TT.
  9. Vommack (talk) Per LGM and TT.
  10. Superfiremario (talk) Per LeftyGreenMario.
  11. KP (talk) Per LGM and TT.
  12. Gonzales Kart Inc. (talk) Something goes wrong because of tilting a cartridge. IT'S STILL A GLITCH. What I just was pretty much per LGM.

Comments

Cartridge tilting glitches are similar to errors that happens in the Files when the CD is scratched. Does they count as global problems in all CDs?!-- Megadardery (talk)

@LGM Read the first paragraph here, And then I'll tell you tilting the cartridge is some sort of damage to the physical media, beside I don't agree with your sentence: "they are programming errors".-- Megadardery (talk)

It's not technically damage (as in, the disc is scratched to begin with), per se, though, but this can result in damage. They're still programming errors since the game is acting in a way that isn't intentionally programmed to do (e.g. no clipping).

If I tilted the disc in the CD-rom, the files will be corrupt.-- Megadardery (talk)
How can you tilt a CD in a Nintendo console to find glitches? I don't think it's a good example you're giving.

When tilting a cartridge, you disallow the console to read all bytes and information. and bout my example: I mean in computer If I tilted a little to the top(so it couldn't be full read), Most files won't work, and others may be corrupt..-- Megadardery (talk)
More examples: if the cartridge is made by four parts "1111" (the first is animation, the second is mapping controls, the third is reading data, the fourth is for Converting data) and I tilted it to the left (so it would be "--/" instead of "----"), what do you think will happen? The data won't be converted or the data will be converted into corrupt data. That's what i mean.-- Megadardery (talk)
That's true, and tilting the cartridge is making the game read it incorrectly.
But, isn't tilting a cartridge sort of replicating a glitch? Many times when you're performing a glitch, you're deliberately exploiting something that can also damage the game. Cartridge tilting is something physical, isn't it?
You're trying to argue that this doesn't qualify as a valid glitch that can be replicated. Yes, it can be replicated. There are directions to perform the glitch in the first place. The other glitches that don't qualify (like graphical glitches caused by damage) seem to happen randomly and beyond the players' control. That's the main point of my argument.

Let's see everything you said:
This is obviously a glitch, and you can't call it "real" or not. Even if you think it doesn't qualify as a glitch to be listed, it's still a glitch. I said the reason some graphical glitches aren't covered is that they're caused by CD/cartridge damage, and they're beyond the player's control, not because there was an exploit in the game's coding. Finally, I don't go on chat, sorry. It's not my thing.

DS?

It just isn't. There is a group effort dedicated to cleaning up glitch pages, and I think that page you were referring to has yet to be organized.

Why is this page protected?

There are errors in this page and I want to fix them and also add more glitches. Please let me temporary edit the page to fix a bunch of mistakes.

It is protected because the vast majority of anons vandalize these pages repeatedly by adding false glitches. If you want to edit it you must create an account and become autoconfirmed. Yoshi876 (talk)
If you want to add something to this page, just request it here and it will be edited if applicable.

"Jump n' Kick"

Is this even a glitch? It sounds more like a simple shortcut to the star, in my opinion.

Doesn't seem like a glitch at all to me. Scr7Falco Lombardi.gif 09:05, 12 October 2013 (EDT)

I agree that it doesn't sound like a glitch. Should we remove this? World10 (talk) 09:22, 12 October 2013 (EDT)
Yep. Deleted the images as well, as there were no longer a use for them.
