Quorum for Proposals?

This may have to become a proposal itself depending.

I was thinking: sometimes proposals have gotten as low as 3 votes a week. That's not enough to voice the popular opinion and/or consensus. For those who don't know, a quorum is a minimum requirement for something. In this case, I think we need to set a certain # of votes total that a proposal needs to count. Even if the proposal passes, anything less than the quorum fails, but the proposal can be tried again after a month or so if wanted again.

Well, there's this big ol' problem we have here, and that's that there's all this neat stuff, like the peer editing for featured articles, the proposals, and the help board that is cool and highly used the first few weeks it's out, but then is forgotten. (can you say run-on?) Perhaps we need a way to show new proposals on the front page, where each user will see them prior to editing. All we have to include is the proposal, not the voting. Right now, most Wikis have a variety of "boxes" on their front pages, (see Bulbapedia and Zelda Wiki) to involve users in the current goings on. Look at our front page: completely devoid of anything like that. Just: "Here's what we have articles on." Is it any wonder that we don't have much support for anything except that? It's not enough to see it over on the sidebar (seriously, new pictures attract more than text, remember the FAs?)... we need to have something dynamic on the mainpage.

But for now, this should work. Remember poor Fixitup's pictures, denied after she went through the proper steps? We don't want any more of that or we're going to loose support. Stumpers! 03:05, 17 August 2007 (EDT)

Main Page Redesign

I understand that our main page is lacking. Most popular wikis have that kind of boxy-organized look that seems to work. I encourage users to attempt a redesign on a subpage of their userpage to see if we can come up with something better. --Steve (talk) 12:36, 17 August 2007 (EDT)

Besides just making the main page look better, I think one week is enough for people to voice their opinions. If someone is indifferent on a matter and the vote stays with 1 or 2 votes then what? Hey, there's a forum post I started that asks what people want on the main page. Sure, I made it for me, but you guys might as well use it, seeing that you're gonna pwn me anyway. I think Featured Images might be rejected in a current proposal. PPs are failing, if brought back to life cn be included. Wiki/Mario News good idea, Lists of course. Shroom Section if restarted again as well. Both Links good. Wa _T^C_@^Y 13:55, 17 August 2007 (EDT)

• Yeah, Featured articles are recovering, why not?
• I recommended this once, but everyone thought it was a bad idea since judging an image is very based on opinion, thus causing conflicts and such.
• I like this idea.
• We already have those on the current main page, so why not?
• I don't know what you mean by Wiki News, since we pretty much have no news. I thought something like this was explained on the 'Shroom.
• This could make it in there, but maybe it could be a weekly thing.

We could indeed have a section for Mario news, but it shouldn't include every update of The Smash Bros. Dojo, for example, but merely say there are daily updates and only post big announcements from that. Take Back 'Shroom?

The server move ruined the July issue, but then Mr. Saudy and Xzelion have been lazy and now August is screwed over. I would rather not, but I would take it back over if the 'Shroom is going to die off otherwise, as I don't want that to happen. Thoughts? Wa _T^C_@^Y 14:11, 17 August 2007 (EDT)

Modes

Should we create articles on modes? We already have a couple of them, but if we start creating them, what will be left of the game articles? What do you guys think?Knife (talk) 21:52, 18 August 2007 (EDT)

Something like Adventure Mode, Party Mode, or Battle Mode. Do they belong in the game's article or are good enough be a separate article? Also, if they should be separate articles, would a category be good?Knife (talk) 22:02, 18 August 2007 (EDT)

I'd rather see an index of games with the modes in them. Then, clicking on the links would place you on the section that describes it. This way, the game articles would retain their substance. Stumpers! 01:36, 19 August 2007 (EDT)

Um... smallness

Advertising

I know advertising is important, but I was wondering if it was possible to move the ads on the bottom of the site past the categories box. Could the bottom ads be outside the border of the articles (and in effect become the bottom border)? Having the ads between the text and the categories is very distracting. -- Son of Suns

Update on Main Page Progress

Currently it looks like a design will be on the Main Page itself before school starts. Currently my design looks nice, but it's too cramped – too many minor links. This is due to my autism – I believe every minor item is important. Also, the colors are nice, but are protruding/dark. In my next update I am going to do the following:

• Create a table-like style similar to Cobold's while retaining a light set of colors. There will still be different colors, but will look similar to each other when lightened up in a good way.
• Trim down minor links.
• Add descriptions for links using the "buttonlink" class Cobold found in PLUMs's sig (thanks!!).

Final product will have mainly the Knowledge Base, Wiki/Mario News, Proposal, Featured Article, Wiki Stuff, and a small section for Affiliates. External Links will be ridden of – all we need is the Forum, which is related & will go in Wiki Stuff. Thus, what is currently on my sub-page will change completely in a few days, but have the same content & more.

Anyone else is free to make a complete design of their own, if necessary a proposal can be made to choose which design takes over. Wa _T^C_@^Y 01:38, 24 August 2007 (EDT)

Uniju, everybody knows, that if anyone, Daisy or Birdo would make it as the next Big Eight character. Waluigi hasn't appeared in even ONE Mainstream Mario game, so, you're out of luck with Waluigi being a member of the Big Eight. My Bloody Valentine You are to obsessed with him. :P

Quiet DP, DDRMM was an adventure, and Waluigi was the main villian. Birdo is a horrible, ugly, IT, and you're obsessed with Daisy. • 1:While DDRMM is an adventure, it's a spinoff and is not very reveleant to the Marioverse overall.
• 2: Waluigi wasn't the "main villain" like you said. He was the one who stole those key and he's the fist boss, but that's it. If anything, the Big Freezie boss in World 3 is only slighty less important.
• 3: Birdo is more important than Waluigi, don't deny that.
• 4: I won't comment on the Daisy portion.

Quiet Plumber, SML was an adventure, and Daisy was the main damsel-in-distress. Birdo may be horrible, ugly, but she has made the most mainstream appearances of any Non-Big Eight character, and Fixitup is obsessed with Daisy, not me. Also, DDRMM, was a Spin-Off game, despite having an adventure mode. SSBM is a Spin-Off, despite having an adventure mode, as well. My Bloody Valentine
