Rabbit Mario is a form Mario can become in Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins by touching a Carrot.

Rabbit Mario has rabbit ears coming out of his hat. When in the air, holding A button can slow his descent, and repeatedly mashing it can lead to an almost fluttering of the ears which can keep you level in the air as you proceed through the level. Also, holding A while on the ground causes Mario to hop continuously; Rabbit Mario also lacks the ability to Spin Jump.

In the Super Smash Bros. series, Mario can turn into Rabbit Mario; however, to become this he has to pick up rabbit ears from the ground and put them on. His new power is to run faster and jump higher. Every other character in the game is able to do this as well. It should, however, be noted that the bunny ears item is more based on the item that appears in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and in its sequel Majora's Mask. In Majora's Mask, the item enhances the speed of the player, explaining why it has such an effect in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

A battle between Bunny Mario and Wario
Rabbit Mario as seen in Mario Kirby Masterpiece.

In one Super Mario Bros. Super Show live action segment Mario appeared dressed as a rabbit. He had two bunny ears on his hat, the buttons of his overalls were white and fluffy, and he had a tail sticking out the back of his overalls. This resembled the Rabbit Mario form; however, it was actually coincidental. Rabbit Mario also appeared in Mario Kirby Masterpiece, an obscure Chinese video starring Mario and Kirby.
