Template:Justreleased Template:Species-infobox Polterpups are Ghost dogs in Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon. These dogs take various objects of importance that Luigi needs. These range from Keys to Gold Dog Bones. A Polterpup may also revive Luigi, who has lost all of his HP, if Luigi happens to have a Gold Dog Bone with him.[1] When a Polterpup has taken something, the player must track it down using the Dark Light function. When the Polterpup is found, they must suck it up. Upon being sucked up their colour changes to gold. Polterpups also appear in a specific multiplayer mode called Polterpup Mode. In this mode, the group must find the kennel or locations that the Polterpups are hiding in and acquire them all. Polterpups have 50 HP. In the ScareScraper mode a special form can be found. It is twice the size of a normal Polterpup and has 100 HP, and also a blue collar. [2] In the ending it is shown that Luigi keeps one at his home [3]

Trivia

  • When a Polterpup goes through a wall it leaves an imprint, referencing the Slimer from Ghostbusters.
  • Despite being a ghost itself, other ghosts seem to have a hatred of Polterpups, which is shown at the Old Clockworks where one of them steals a clockhand from some Greenies. [4]
  • Polterpups are very similar to Poochy.
  • A Swapnote message regarding Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon was sent by Shigeru Miyamoto prior to the game's release. According to the note, the Polterpup is Miyamoto's favorite ghost in the game.
