The Magic Paintbrush is a strange weapon wielded by Bowser Jr. in Super Mario Sunshine. The young Koopa used this brush to assume his alter ego Shadow Mario and paint graffiti all over Isle Delfino. Apparently, the Magic Paintbrush was created by Professor E. Gadd. Bowser Jr. claimed that an "old man in a white coat" gave the brush to him. Additionally, the brush has E. Gadd's logo on it. It is unknown why E. Gadd would give Bowser Jr. such a weapon; it is likely Bowser Jr. simply stole the Magic Paintbrush from E. Gadd.

After the great battle on Corona Mountain, Bowser Jr. dropped his paintbrush and Il Piantissimo found the weapon on the beach. This leads many to believe that Il Piantissimo is now Shadow Mario. Strangely, Bowser Jr. somehow recovered the weapon prior to the events of Mario Power Tennis.
