Poochy Ain't Stupid is an Extra Level belonging to World One in the game Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. It is unlocked by obtaining the maximum score (100 points) in all levels of World One, not counting the Secret Level, Exercise in the Skies. The whole level centers around Poochy, and introduces a few new enemies not otherwise encountered in World One. This is the only non-castle level other than KEEP MOVING!!!! to have the castle music.
Poochy Ain't Stupid is the Extra Stage of World 1 in the game Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and its remake Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. It is unlocked by obtaining a total score of 800 points in the other levels of World 1. The whole level centers around Poochy, and introduces a few new enemies not otherwise encountered in World 1. Like every other Extra Stage, this level's playable Yoshi is the green Yoshi.

Walkthrough
This is one of two non-fort/castle levels to use the fort/castle background music, the other being KEEP MOVING!!!!
As the level starts, Green Yoshi will be ambushed by several Fangs, which Yoshi should eat to produce eggs. Before moving on, Yoshi should throw an egg at the nearby Winged Cloud, which contains five stars. As the player moves to the right, the screen will begin autoscrolling. Yoshi should avoid or defeat the Fangs in the way until the player gets to jump on a small ledge next to some lava. At this point, Poochy will make his appearance, walking over the lava. The player must jump on Poochy and face to the right. Poochy will run to the right. If the player faces left, Poochy will run left. This will be the key to successfully seizing victory over this level. As Yoshi continues his way, he will jump to higher ground. The player should quickly jump off Poochy, shoot the Winged Cloud above and collect the falling stars, or at least, as many as they can. It is not recommended for the player to give priority to stars, as there are many scattered around the level. The player should mostly keep an eye on Poochy and the moving screen. After collecting as many stars as possible, Yoshi must jump back on Poochy's back and let him continue his way through the lava. Soon, a high ground will show up again. The player must jump on it by themself, as Poochy will continue through a small hole below the ground. Yoshi should try to hit the Winged Cloud above with an egg and then Flutter Jump down to collect the first Flower and land on Poochy's back.

Overview
As Poochy continues his way, the player will encounter another Winged Cloud, this one floating above a gap of lava. Just as before, Yoshi must hop off Poochy and throw an egg at it for some stars, and subsequently jump on Poochy's back again for him to continue. Next up is a little challenge. There will be a gap with the second Flower on it, and above, a Bill Blaster shooting Bullet Bills at Yoshi. Yoshi must be extremely careful and have Poochy go a bit more slowly so he can collect the Flower; let Poochy jump back and immediately after Flutter jump to some ground above, which is not visible from the below ground. Here there will be a plethora of Red Coins. The player must try to obtain all of these. It is recommended for the player, if they are running out of time, to ignore the star-containing Winged Cloud and just collect the Red Coins. After that, Yoshi, always facing right, should flutter jump down, collecting the coins in the way and grabbing the third Flower.

The player starts off in a cave area next to a Winged Cloud, if they go to the right some Fangs will spawn and the screen will start autoscrolling. Not long after the screen starts scrolling there will be a lava pit that can only be crossed by using Poochy, who will be used for the rest of the level. When the player encounters the Bullet Bill they will need to jump up onto the platform and then drop down and land on Poochy who will then continue to ferry the player over the lava. After this, there will be a section with lots of Fangs and Tap-Taps, and after this will be another lava section that has a Spiked Ball rotating above it. After this lava segment, the player must blindly drop down and Flutter Jump to the Goal Ring.

In the SNES version, the player cannot land on a bonus slot to play the Bonus Challenge on the Goal Ring on this level. The wheel will stay on a win slot for as long as two seconds before advancing slots and less than a half second on a blue dot.
After landing on Poochy's back, the player will have to switch between right or left to make Poochy temporarily stop and not collide against a wandering Podoboo or make Poochy run so fast he goes off-screen and Yoshi falls. After this, the player will once again land on safe ground, which is full of Fangs, which serve as egg supply. Upon advancing a bit, the player should notice another Winged Cloud, which contains more stars. As Poochy keeps going, the player will notice a row of Tap-Taps. The player should just let Poochy run over them, instantly defeating them. Soon after, Poochy will jump into a small gap containing two Red Coins. Not far from there, Poochy will jump up, making Yoshi touch the fourth Flower. Next up are some Boo Guys controlling a giant trap. To avoid it and collect the red coins in its way, Yoshi must advance when it's safe and grab as many coins as possible, then back off and return when it's safe once again. As Poochy keeps advancing, Yoshi will find three flying items: Two Winged Clouds and the last Flower of the level. In case the player needs more stars, or lost them during the game, this is the chance to recover them. Next Poochy will come upon a cliff. He will simply jump off. Yoshi must collect the coins in the way, as they are all Red Coins needed for the maximum score. However, there is a pool of lava there, so Yoshi will have to Flutter jump in order to reach safety. After that, Yoshi will finally arrive the finish, and Poochy will watch him pass through the Goal Ring and then run off.

Overview[edit]

Poochy Ain't Stupid
Poochy ferries Yoshi over a pool of lava.
