Bugaboom is a boss that appears in Super Mario Galaxy. This boss is found in the Honeyhive Galaxy and is the leader of the Mandibug clan that infested the Honeyhive Kingdom.

Appearance

Bugaboom is a huge green Mandibug, with six legs and eyes that have a demented look to them. Unlike most Mandibugs, his body is flat instead of rounded. He flies rapidly in a circle around his planet and drops explosives from the underside of his body.

Strategy

The planet on which Mario fights Bugaboom has several dandelion stalks, a Bee Mushroom, and some water. The planet also has a black hole under it. As Bee Mario, Mario must climb one of the dandelion stalks or attach himself to the honeycomb walls on the center tree. This will gain him enough height to Ground Pound Bugaboom on the back. Three direct hits will result in the demise of Bugaboom, and a Power Star will appear. After each hit, Bugaboom moves more quickly, attacks more frequently, and turns on his side more often.

Trivia

  • The name Bugaboom is a pun on the word Bug-a-boo, which is a term for monsters, generally minor children's book monsters.
  • The music is a remix to the Honeyhive Galaxy main theme.
