Its name is a pun on the words "so very bad", and is derived from its method of protection, a barrier. It appears similar to, and may even be related to the Yux species from Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. The Sobarribad projects an impenetrable barrier around itself when Mario, Princess Peach, Bowser, or Luigi approaches, and shoots rings of energy at them.
