The 'Shroom Spotlight

by YoshiKong (talk)

Hey guys! The team have got something quite special to share with everyone this month. We would like to reintroduce The 'Shroom Spotlight, a project which used to be directed by Xzelion and Marioguy1. In the past, 'Shroom issues featured a section called 'Shroom Spotlight, which focused on a game article where users could sign up and collaborate to help improve those articles on the wiki. Progress which took place during the month was discussed in the next issue, and a new game article was put forward to work on. Around mid-2011, the project was showing lack of participation and sign-ups, and it was soon abandoned. Both Xzelion and Marioguy1 have since retired from the wiki, and it hasn't yet been brought back. Until now. Yes ladies and gentlemen, we would like to announce the return of The 'Shroom Spotlight! However, the whole process will be slightly modified from how it was run in the past. First off, to make the project slightly more open to users, sign up will not be required. Basically, all users, young or old, experienced or inexperienced, are invited to help out with the articles! The second change will be that games may not always be our focus. We may pick any type of article; character, game, a level, item, and more! Usually, we'll choose a page from the Rewrite Requested category. Sometimes it may be a page which is currently been nominated to be unfeatured, and occasionally we might highlight a wanted page or an article which needs more images, just to shake things up a bit ;P

So, for the first month of the new 'Shroom Spotlight, we will be focusing on the game Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. This RPG game, released in 2003, takes place in the Beanbean Kingdom. Mario and Luigi, the game's protagonists (duh), are hunting down the villains Cackletta and Fawful to retrieve Peach's voice. Unfortunately, the article recently became unfeatured. Our goal isn't going to specifically be trying to get it featured again, but to improve the article. The main issues within the article, as discussed on the unfeature nomination, are shown to be the opening paragraph (it's quite choppy), the story section (due to the abundance of flowery writing and poorly-written sentences), the sidequests section (due to its bareness and bad formatting), and the items section (again, due to its bareness). The article is also currently violating the empty section policy. So, for this month we invite you, our dear reader, to lend a helping hand with Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. You don't have to be familiar with the game; rewording and general maintenance is a valuable part of the collaboration.

We'll be reviewing our progress on the article next month. Hopefully, if we get enough participants we'll hopefully be able to keep 'Shroom Spotlight as a permanent part of our newspaper. If you have any questions, suggestions or feedback on Spotlight, make sure to post a comment on the forum board. Thank you for reading!
