Thoughts on merging Flower (New Super Mario Bros. series) with this page?

The flowers in NSMB games are generic plant-based props that produce coins when interacted with. The only practical difference is that they're found in 2D platformers as opposed to 3D. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 11:43, May 29, 2023 (EDT)

The only reason I haven't gone through with the merge is that I'm not sure what identifier to use. "(object)" isn't particular to this type of flower, since Flower (platform) and Flower (grapple) are also objects. Would "Flower (scenery)" or "Flower (ground object)" work? Or, perhaps one of the guides cited in this article offers a general term for the earthbound plants that give you items? I was also entertaining a merge with Item container, but I think the scope would get too wide. -- KOOPA CON CARNE 06:18, June 2, 2023 (EDT)

'(ground object)' would sound a bit nonsense. I'd just make a page called 'Flower' and lump everything there, with a distinguish template for Smiley Flowers and possibly the flower powerups like Fire Flower.

Hmmm when I made this page, I didn’t really think of it as a wastebasket for all flowers in the franchise - just those that had an explicitly shared gameplay function as denoted in the Shogakukan encyclopedia. Flowers appear as scenery in almost every single game in the franchise and I feel like it dilutes the purpose of even having an article if it was for every single appearance. - Nintendo101 (talk) 07:43, June 2, 2023 (EDT)
