Name[edit]

Is there a reason this is called "Big Bertha (Blaster)" instead of "Big Bertha (Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars)"? Niiue (talk) 17:50, 27 January 2016 (EST)

Probably because the identifier is more descriptive of the enemy rather than the game name, per MarioWiki:Naming. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 22:04, 27 January 2016 (EST)
Yep. Only if there's multiple uses of the same name for the same general type of thing should the identifier be a game - otherwise, it should just be the subject type itself, since that's simpler. - Walkazo 22:09, 27 January 2016 (EST)
Then shouldn't the two Stretches be renamed, seeing as how "Boo" and "Shy Guy" are about as distinct as "Blaster" and "Cheep Cheep"? Niiue (talk) 03:56, 28 January 2016 (EST)
Such as Stretch (Shy Guy) and Stretch (Boo)? Yup, that makes sense. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 16:09, 28 January 2016 (EST)
The Yoshi's Island one was originally "Stretch (Shy Guy)", but was moved by an administrator (albeit back in 2012, when standards were usually pretty different). Niiue (talk) 20:24, 28 January 2016 (EST)
Yes, but Steve moved Big Bertha (Super Mario RPG: This Really Stupidly Long Name) to Big Bertha (Bill Blaster) in 2013 so there seems to be a policy change. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 13:00, 29 January 2016 (EST)
Actually, aren't Stretches just called "Boos" in Super Mario Maker? That may have to be updated. LinkTheLefty (talk) 03:50, 4 February 2016 (EST)

I agree that the two Stretches should be moved to a species identifier. By the wiki's definition, both enemies now each appear in a second game (the Super Mario Advance series). A single game identifier is not sufficient.

They'll have to per policy anyway. Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 19:26, 1 August 2016 (EDT)
