The '''Drill Spin''' is a technique used by [[Mario]] and [[Luigi]] in ''[[New Super Mario Bros.]]'',  ''[[New Super Mario Bros. Wii]]'', ''[[New Super Mario Bros. U]]'', ''[[New Super Luigi U]]'', and the ''[[Super Mario Maker (disambiguation)|Super Mario Maker]]'' games. The move causes Mario or Luigi to move in a downward, drill-like spin, which allows Mario or Luigi to break multiple [[Brick Block]]s in a row. It also makes Mario or Luigi's descent much faster, though it restricts his horizontal movement.

Unlike in the previous game, the Drill Spin from the Propeller Mushroom lasts only as long as {{button|Wii|Paddown}} is held; the Drill Spin can be stopped and started several times in midair.
