Bramble Scramble is the nineteenth level of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, as well as the twentieth level of Donkey Kong Land 2, a similar game for the Game Boy system. It is the third area of Krazy Kremland in Donkey Kong Country 2, and the fifth area of the same world in Donkey Kong Land 2.
This is the second bramble level of the games, which is strangely located in the amusement park, Krazy Kremland. Here, Diddy and Dixie Kong must climb vine and use the help of the Animal Buddy, Squawks, to progress. Squitter, found in this level only in Donkey Kong Country 2, can also be found in a hidden area of the level. Sharp brambles trace the outside of the area, and one touch of them can cause one of the two Kongs to run away. Several enemies also lurk around this level, including Krooks, Kannons, Kloaks, Zingers, Flitters, Click-Clacks, and Mini Neckies.
 Level Layout
 Donkey Kong Country 2
At the beginning of the level, the Kongs must walk down a wooden path and jump over the brambles to reach a horizontal vine. On the way to the vine, they encounter a Krook and a DK Barrel. A hidden area is behind the entrance to the level, and it contains a Barrel Cannon, the letter K, a Banana Bunch, and, in the Game Boy Advance version of the game, a Diddy Barrel that can shoot the primates to a photograph. Once the Kongs reach the aforementioned vine, they encounter several Zingers that they must dodge to progress. One of these Zingers guards a Banana Bunch. There is a vertical vine near here that leads up to a Krook in a small alcove, and then up to a wooden platform that holds a Click-Clack. An Invincibility Barrel is hidden high above here, and it can help the heroes journey through a bramble-filled pit located just ahead, which leads to a Bonus Barrel. On the other side of this pit, the heroes can find a trio of spaced-out, wooden platforms that are structured on top of the brambles. A Krook stands between two of these platforms. The third of the three platforms here supports an Animal Crate containing Squawks the Parrot. The Animal Buddy is required to progress north, where there is a wide path among the brambles that they must travel through.
There are Zingers and Flitters in the way, and one of the Zingers blocks an opening that leads a wide area that contains many bananas, a Banana Coin, and a DK Barrel. Once they pass a pair of Zingers, one of which that is red and therefore indestructible at this point of the level, they reach a DK Barrel in a corner. A path among the brambles is below here, and as the primates travel down it, a Krook throws its hook at them. A pair of red, indestructible Zingers also fly in their way as they descent. At the bottom of the area, they can discover more Zingers and Flitters. Some of these Zingers fly together in circles around the wide passage, much like Boo Buddies from Super Mario World. Upon passing these foes, the Kongs approach a Kannon that shoots kannonballs below it as it stands in a square-shaped section of brambles. Some bananas and a Banana Bunch float above the foe, but the area around them is much longer and thinner than the one below the enemy. After continuing past the Kannon and a lone Zinger, the primates reach an alcove with the letter O in it. If they head north from here, they come past two more Krook enemies, who throw their hooks at the heroes as they pass. The second Krook stands in front of a thin alcove that holds a pair of Banana Coins. A No Animal Sign sits on some wooden boards ahead of here, and once it is reached, Squawks disappears and the Kongs are given a Banana Bunch. The Star Barrel floats in front of a long, vertical vine nearby.
To the right of the vine, there is a set of brambles that can be jumped through to reach a hidden area that contains an Animal Barrel that holds Squitter the Spider and several collectibles, including a DK Coin. At the end of this hidden area, there is a No Animal Sign that causes Squitter to disappear when reached. The Kongs are given an Extra Life Balloon in return. There is an Auto Fire Barrel ahead of the sign that can fire the primates out of the hidden area and to the section of the level that contains the second Animal Crate for Squawks. If the heroes choose not to take the hidden path, they can instead continue up the aforementioned vine to reach a horizontal vine with a DK Barrel under the end of it. A few Mini Neckies attack them as they climb the vine, and a Zinger also surrounds the DK Barrel. To progress, the primates much climb east along the horizontal vine, and, along the way, pass a Kannon that shoots kannonballs from above them. After they climb an additional vertical vine, they reach a long, thin area with a horizontal vine running through it.
A Kannon at the end of the vines shoots kannonballs across the area. A few alcoves are scattered along the passage to be used to the Kongs' advantage in dodging the attacks. They soon meet the Kannon, who they must jump over to reach a separate vine that they can use to hang over some wooden boards with Click-Clacks on them. If the primates manage to climb over the small wall of brambles to the right of here, they make their way down along a trail of bananas and onto an Animal Crate containing another Squawks. The parrot can help them pass a pair of Zingers in their way and fly through the large area located just ahead, which many more Zingers are scattered throughout. All of these Zingers are red, meaning that they cannot be defeated by any of the heroes' attacks at this point. The letter N floats in the top-right corner of this area, and in the bottom-right corner of it, they can find a passage that holds a DK Barrel. As they continue through the rather wide passage, a few Zingers, most of which that are red, fly in their way. The last two of these Zingers guard a Golden Feather in the Game Boy Advance version of the game.
North of here, there is a path that leads up to circular area with a few red Zingers flying through it. After the heroes make their way through here, they access a wider passage to the east with several red and yellow Zingers hovering through it. A few Mini-Neckies wait ahead of here to dive at the Kongs as they approach. The primates can then find another circular area to the north with several red Zingers flying throughout it. One of the red Zingers is stationary and blocks the Kongs' path, so they must take the long way around the round path. Once they successfully progress through here, they access a wider passage that contains a quadruplet of Kloaks that constantly throw crates at the heroes, until they are defeated. A No Animal Sign is near here on some wooden boards attached to the top of some brambles. Once they reach it, Squawks disappears and they are given the letter G in return. An End of Level Target is located at the bottom of a small ledge located ahead of here. If they hit the target from a high place, they are given a prize, such as an Extra Life Balloon.
 Donkey Kong Land 2
The level begins in front of a Banana Bunch on some wooden planks that hold the Kongs over the sharp brambles. Some more wooden planks are ahead to help them progress safely. A DK Barrel is above one of the sets of planks, while a Krook stands on the planks after it. The primates can bounce on a nearby Flitter to reach a long vine that they must climb up to progress. If they climb down on the vine, they come past a Zinger and then reach a set of wooden planks that support a Click-Clack. The letter K is located in this area. To the right of the same vine, there is a Banana Bunch above more planks. As the heroes climb upwards on this vine, a Zinger flies in their way. Once they pass the foe, they reach a horizontal vine. If they climb to the left on the vine, they can find a Krook, a Banana Coin, and a Banana Bunch, but if they travel to the right, they progress to a Zinger and a short, vertical vine. They must drop down from this vine to land on some wooden planks that hold a Click-Clack. This is followed by some more planks and another Click-Clack. From here, they can reach the remaining part of the previous horizontal vine. As they climb across this, a Zinger tries to attack them. Soon, they make their way to a vertical vine that they must climb down to reach some more wooden planks with a Click-Clack on them. A trio of Zingers fly in their way as they climb down the vine.
An Animal Barrel is located at the bottom of the vine, and if it is entered, the primates are turned into Squawks the Parrot. The parrot can help them progress through a wide path placed among the brambles. As he begins his flight, he encounters a Zinger and a Banana Bunch, and then heads north. There are many bananas and Zingers on the way. At the top of the area, the hero meets a few Flitters, and then heads down another path full of Zingers. There is a fork-in-the-road on the way through here. If Squawks continues downwards, he reaches the letter O, a Banana Coin, and some bananas, but if he travels to the right as he heads down the area, he encounters some more Flitters and a DK Barrel. There are some more Zingers and Flitters north of here, but after they are passed, the parrot reaches a No Animal Sign, which causes him to turn back into the Kongs. As the primates continue forward, they must make sure to land on the wooden planks on top of the brambles. On the way along the platforms, they encounter a Flitter and a Click-Clack, and then reach a vertical vine that is surrounded by a few other vines. The vine to the right of here can help them access an area with a horizontal vine that leads past a Zinger and back to the platform holding the No Animal Sign. The vine to the left helps the Kongs reach some wooden planks with a Click-Clack walking along them. Another vine is northwest of the last vine, and it leads to a Zinger and a hidden Bonus Barrel. If the heroes continue west from here, they reach a long set of wooden planks with the Star Barrel and a DK Barrel above them.
There is a large group of vines ahead of here with many Zingers swarming around them. The letter N is located at the beginning of this vine area. Soon, the primates pass a Flitter and then head towards a vertical vine that they can use to climb past a few Zingers and safely reach a few sections of wooden planks that hold Click-Clacks. The last set of planks are placed under an Animal Barrel that must be entered to turn into Squawks again. The parrot must be used to ascend up a slanted path with a single Zinger at the beginning of it. As the parrot approaches the top of this path, he finds a Zinger guarding a thin passage. After he defeats this Zinger and the two other Zingers located after it, he accesses a large, hidden area that contains a DK Barrel, a Banana Bunch, some more Zingers, and a DK Coin. If Squawks heads back to the area that he found the Zinger guarding the thin passage, he can find a wider passage to the west.
As he heads along this curvy path, a few Zinger fly in his way. Eventually, he reaches a DK Barrel and then flies southeast towards a No Animal Sign structured on some wooden planks. If he tries to pass this sign, he is turned back into the Kongs, who must then travel to a large, wide area full of vines, Flitters, and Zingers. As they climb through this area, they discover a Banana Coin and the letter G, which floats above the head of a Krook at the bottom of the area. A Click-Clack patrols the small set of planks that holds this Krook. If the primates make their way east through this large area, they reach some sets of wooden planks that support Click-Clacks. A Banana Bunch is above each set of planks. Eventually, the heroes make their way to a long, vertical vine that they must climb down to reach a set of planks that hold a spring. As they climb down, a few Zingers try to interfere. If Diddy or Dixie jump on the spring, the level is complete.
